Where did Skrillex pop up from? The National are headlining Other. End of. Although this email I just got from them isn't hugely encouraging about June dates:

'Hi Friends -

We've been having an amazing time in New Zealand, Australia & Asia. Thanks to all of you who have come to the shows and made this such a fun tour. We have some more traveling to do, but are happy to announce that we'll be back in Brooklyn for a Celebrate Brooklyn show at Prospect Park on June 17th. Phosphorescent will be joining us as a special guest. There's a pre-sale running now until Friday February 21st at 12pm ET. Use the password TROUBLE to buy tickets here: http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/00004C4EE407B13C.

We have additional shows in the US & Europe through summer 2014 that you can find here: http://americanmary.com/#tour. More European dates for July and August will be added soon. If we're not visiting your town or if you want to watch one of the most picturesque shows we've ever played, check out the video from the Sydney Opera House Forecourt show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3qS7hKoOR4

Last week, we released the video for I Need My Girl. We were very happy to work with Sophia Peer again and she's made another gorgeous video for us to share with you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-Tod1_tZdU.

Finally, for our friends in the US, "Mistaken for Strangers" will be in select theaters and available on VOD on March 28th. Pre-orders start tomorrow night, February 20th, at http://mistakenforstrangersmovie.com. For those outside of the US, release dates will be a little staggered, but we'll keep you posted on screenings and digital availability on the Mistaken for Strangers website.'

Skrillex is a SR on an unknown day for Other on efests, so i'm presuming he's headlining due to him being a big dance act with a big light show etc

i'd be surprised if The National aren't there again this year

I'm starting to think they may not be there, what with them turning last year down and everyone (us) presuming they only want to headline stages. Unless they're headlining Park or JPT. Can't see them in JPT, so that leaves Park. Which would be amazing. As long as it clashes with Arcade Fire and Skrillex and not Prince or Massive Attack (Sorry Zoo).

If they clash with Arcade Fire but are playing on The Park then it's no contest: The National all the way.

But, yeah, I'm starting to think they are just horrendous teases and are going to leave us hanging once more.

Edit: I think they're too big for The Park though.

Still don't think subbing Arcade Fire is out of the question. Then Win could come on for Start a War :D(YouTube it, I can't suss out how to link on my phone)

Edit: also, they have such similar fan bases, having them clash would be so stupid. But yes, I think I'd go for The National if they did

I don't think they're too big for the Park if they're headlining, as there would be no casual fans at that time. People I go with who don't really know them would probably come with me if they were on in the afternoon but wouldn't take that chance on a headliner. But then I'm so out of touch these days, I'm rubbish at judging this sort of thing.

I really think they are. Who headlined The Park last year? Cat Power, The Horrors and Fuck Buttons? Come on. The Horrors are headlining the second stage at a festival The National are headlining. I'd love to see them on The Park, don't get me wrong, but did you see the size of that Sydney gig?

I can't see The National subbing Arcade Fire on the Pyramid. Partly because I think they're after stage headline slots and partly because I think at Glastonbury they tend to mix it up a bit more than that between subs and headliners (Primal Scream into Stones being an exception).

Word reaches me that The National are being given only an hour to play at the 6 Music Festival. For fuck's sake.

As the headline act, and with them flying in for this single gig from America, that seems a pretty insulting length of time to give them.

I know it's a festival and they'll want to give every band a fair crack, but they're also billing this thing and selling 5,000 tickets using The National as the main attraction.

They've been playing for two hours, 20 minutes in their recent gigs, and while I wouldn't expect them to play for anything like that long, surely a standard 90-minute festival set is reasonable to expect. What are they going to do in an hour? 14 songs?

The National are not schedule to play any other headline sets in England this year and I feel strongly as if I've been ripped off here, and have emailed 6 Music saying as much. It won't do any good, but I think as a paying customer it's something I have a right to say.

It is true I'm afraid (or at least that's what a lady at 6music told me when I emailed). It's a load of bollocks in my opinion. A headline slot should be at least 90 minutes, regardless of how much they want to showcase all the acts. They've got 90 minutes at BST and aren't even headlining! (I emailed the organisers about that too; I need to get out more.)

I'd probably still have bought a ticket as it's quite cheap for what it is but am still miffed. A lot of songs I was hoping for will be missed off the set now.

Poor if true. I'd expect BBC as 4th down to get an 45mins to an hour, when there's 8 hours to get 6 bands per stage. 2nd down should get an hour and headliners 90 mins

Where've you heard this anyway?

I believe he heard it from me - see my posts in the 6music festival thread on the 'Other UK festivals' board.

All I can suggest is as many people as possible email 6 Music and make their feelings known about this. While it probably won't change anything, it certainly won't hurt. I've also contacted The National via their Facebook page, although who knows who actually operates that.

Nice one. Was considering emailing / tweeting them myself. Will definitely do so now. I looked at some of their hour long summer festival sets, and yeah, we're looking at 13/14 songs :(
