Zoo Music Girl
The National are doing Hyde Park on Saturday so would mean they can only do Sunday. Ah I have a fucking wedding to go to!
scaryclaireyfairy
if you're tempted northwards, go the whole hog and come to edinburgh. the venue's a lovely old concert hall with good acoustics. pretty intimate too.
rjb94
I'm already going to the Pixies show, if it turns out to be Morrissey on Sat and The National on Sun then the bank will well and truly be broken - although it would help alleviate post-Glastonbury blues

Aw I'd love to. Love Edinburgh too. But don't think I could hack the megabus that far with these old bones...
Riggins
I've just booked Tame Impala on the Saturday in Manchester so I'm glad it won't be on that day, it would be amazing if true though and would help soothe the disappointment at having to miss out on 6 Music. scaryclaireyfairy
ouch, yeah, i did that trip once by coach and i was close to a breakdown by the time it was over. that was 10 years ago so it'd actually kill me now. if you're on the ball, it can be done by train for about 40 notes though. Shit I booked impala this morning as well, glad it didn't clash but if this national this comes off that will be one hell of a weekend. I think pixies and James are near £40. Do you reckon it will be the same for TN cause that's a lot of money considering I saw them at radio 6 for £25 as well as 5 other bands

Riggins
I would like to see Morrissey just to see him more than anything, there'll be a decision to make if he's on the Saturday which I suspect he will/would be. Hopefully we'll get a decent support act if we're paying £40, someone like Phosphorescent who seems to be around at the same time.

Snap! I did it about 10 years ago too. Shit I booked impala this morning as well, glad it didn't clash but if this national this comes off that will be one hell of a weekend. Do you reckon it will be the same for TN cause that's a lot of money considering I saw them at radio 6 for £25 as well as 5 other bands I think the 6music thing was unusually cheap though, to be fair. I'd say, weighing up my options, that I'm best off doing the BST thing. It's a short bus ride for me and they're doing a "full set". I'll see Neil Young as a bonus. CHRLY
Ill still go even if it if £40. I reckon that venue will be great for them
kaytee...
I hope they do play, I don't think I'll ever tire of seeing them live. Every time I have it's been in Manchester too so I'm sure they'll more than welcomed back.
CHRLY
Crowd were amazing down the front at radio 6 no idea what it was like but I'm wondering if they could sell 10,000 tickets at £40? Think they sold two nights at Apollo last time didn't they?

Think they sold two nights at Apollo last time didn't they? Was wondering this myself. Especially as this will be their 4th gig here in about 8 months. I guess they might have a strong support act lined up though. I'd love it to be St. Vincent. I'm immensly jealous of Germany in that respect

I know people who travelled from the other end of the country for those Manchester gigs so if they're not doing another full tour it could definitely sell. Zoo Music Girl
I travelled from London for it and would do it again if I could. As kaytee said, I could watch them again and again and again! Also they'll probably take a break after this tour so makes sense to see them as much as possible. CHRLY
Wasn't the reason people travelled because of the low ticket prices? Zoo music girl would you have travelled all the way up if it was £40?
Zoo Music Girl
I might have, yeah. But I'm scarily obsessive about this band! Plus Megabus cost me a tenner return But I think low ticket prices helped. Having said that they don't do very big tours of the UK these days and this gig would be a lot longer than the 6music thing (which also sold out very fast) so I'd say demand will be there. They're pretty hot right now. Still can't believe people think they're not Other stage headliner material...

Well I'm definitely down cause I'm a 20 mins train journey away but for some reason I don't see this (wonderful) band selling 10,000 tickets at £40. After the 6 music thing I was so keen to tell people about the set but they weren't interested as they'd 'never heard of them' or 'never listened to them'. Like you I believe that they are now other stage headline material. That's on the basis that they headlined a festival that Damon Albarn did, he's headlining lattitude and latitude headline sized acts usually take pyramid sub/other headline at glasto. They seem to get no radio play and for that matter pretty much no publicity at all. They, to me, are a band that you have to bother to make an effort to listen to them. Thankfully there are hoards who have and radio 6 was full of people who knew every single word to all the songs. I reckon if castlefield does sell out it will be quite an experience because you have to be quite a fan to fork out £40 on a band I think so the atmosphere will be immense. However I can just not see it happening, as much as I'd love it too. Also, does anyone know how well Pixies/James tickets are selling? CHRLY
fuck the the wedding, just quote divorce statistics at them and tell them you'll go to the next one What he said, they will surely put on a better show there than to a largely uninterested audience at Hyde park??? Zoo Music Girl
fuck the the wedding, just quote divorce statistics at them and tell them you'll go to the next one Yeah but this is the wedding where they're having 'Palaces of Montezuma' by Grinderman as their first dance. You see my dilemma.
zico martin
You think bumping this thread will make them more likely to be announced soon then, or is it the kiss of death? Perhaps if I just say I don't want them to play, that may help
