While we're waiting for bands to be announced, does anyone have any recommendations for places to go in Lisbon? I'm staying there a week, from Wednesday before to Wednesday after. The world cup semi and final are either side of festival as well for those interested!

I'm looking at staying in Lisbon myself, Barrio Alto is the late night kinda place, but maybe best staying slightly east from there, or near Santa Apolina station. Close to the main streets (Liberdade) is also a good bet.

Yeah Bairro Alto is the main nightlife area & day really plenty of bars to frequent, also a couple, of nice bars down on the sea front next to Cais de sodre Train/Underground station, can get the train from here tomthe festival site really easily.

Id definitely reccomend staying around the bairro alto area & not staying close to the festival because alart from the festival theres not much nearby in terms of nightlife & bars.

2 good beaches at cascais & estoril which are on the same train line from central lisbon (cais de sodre) past the festival, again i wouldnt recommend staying at the beach resorts as most perople even the locals tend to get the train to the beach.

Be good if portugal are still in the world cup for the semis and the final the place will be buzzing.

Any hotel/hostel near a underground metro station will be perfect its runs great last year i went i stayed all the way up north by the coach station and zoo area right by a metro though and i was downtown in 10 minutes.

Be prepared for uphill walking around lisbon its the steepest city ever!

Yeah festival Thursday Friday Saturday, world cup final Sunday. Sounds good to me! Hopefully Portugal still in the semis on the weds before when I'm there.

I'm staying just outside Bairra Alto have heard it's lively! Any good alternative type clubs/bars?

Haha no I'd have just asked for titty bars. Meant indie/alternative/rock clubs etc

It is quite lively its not rave on clubbing lots of busy bars and bairro altonis made up of lots and small streets its different i really enjoyed it gets packed at night.

Unfortunately i cant remember the name of any bars/clubs gonna scout i didnt manage to find an indie/alternative place will look harder this time.

Gonna be cheering portugal on to get to the semis i imagine the atmosphere would be great

Two door and Editors probably won't be back, they don't really seem to do immediate repeat bookings. Also, Placebo are quite big in Europe, would surely have to sub? (Could see them being bumped up to headliners if they were really struggling for a headliner)
