hi mates, since is my first post I thought it would be friendly to make a brief presentation of myself. i'm from Portugal (more exactly Algés), i'm 21 and I attend OA every year since 2009 (ok, 2012 is an exception) and i think i can give some interesting point to this thread.

firstly, my first though always have been on Prince. first reason: last show in Portugal he announced 3 days before and the venue sold out anyway. second: he already did it one time in Super Bock Super Rock at Meco, and sold out as well. thirdly: he loves Portugal, last time he had been here was last wednesday. why? have no fu%/&$g idea but it was noticed on social media.

secondly, (just supposing) if hypothectically there was the opportunity that the third headliner could be Kanye West what were your thoughts about it? lol and yes, the question is not innocent and i have my points.

thirdly, sorry for any writing mistake. my english is not that good as i wished. (had to use a bit google translator lol)

cheers.

Kanye would be spot on, but it isn't going to happen. Prince i am coming to terms with, and whenever he goes to Portugal he goes to this certain club so i am after a selfie with him if he plays haha. And a question to mattpt, are there still posters up in portugal for the lineup or are they been taken down in preparation for new ones?

well, about Kanye i wouldn't be that sure. i can't assure you that he is the third headliner but... :)

some didn't. you noticed that Primavera Sound changed name from Optimus to NOS, the reason is that two brands (Optimus and Zon) merged into NOS in May and the sponsor became NOS. so Primavera changed to NOS and OA didn't (actual fact is that it did... for two days, after too much mock). but the posters of OA in "critical points" of Lisbon have been taken down and in return were placed some posters about NOS (brand itself) or NOS Primavera Sound... so, maybe after PS they take those down and put others of Optimus Alive (and it’ll definitely be Optimus and not NOS, at least this year) with the final line up, which means that (i believe) in the next two weeks the full lineup is announced.

ps: actually, a friend of mine confirmed at this moment that some posters have been taken down today. so, think by yourselfs...

I heard that Prince confirmed no other Portugese shows/festivals a few days ago, except for the ones already announced?

http://blitz.sapo.pt/prince-esteve-ontem-em-portugal-mas-nao-vem-tocar-nos-festivais-de-verao-atualizada=f92468

try to translate. in resume, they say Prince has been in PT last tuesday (not wednesday as i said before) and he's going to announce some new gigs next days but none of them is in a festival (at Portugal, ofc). however, they don't justify so.

I've written the Saturday off and now have it as a two day festival in my head. Given the headliners at Belladrum (the other two day festival I'm going to this year) are Tom Jones and Razorlight and the tickets costs virtually the same bar a quid or so, I reckon I got a good deal :)

Interesting! You mention the question is not innocent @mattpt - do you know something about this that we don't?! Do share! ;)

I think Kanye would be cool to see live! Although I'm not as much of a fan of his as I once was, I really enjoyed his early stuff when I was younger. The College Dropout was a great album. He's playing in the UK and Ireland the week before OA, so could make sense if he was to perform in Lisbon the week after... it would also clear up why the organisers had kept the final line up so quiet?

AF are not touring Europe in July (american leg?) so they won't play at Optimus Alive. I think Pearl Jam is one of the headliners and they're waiting the band to confirm the gigs all at once. I'm clueless about the third headliner but festival director said he'd like to book Atoms for Peace although I think they'd be subliners...

Any I was last year and mid and small stages were the highlights of the festival by far so I'm not worried about who'll be headlining as long as the subliners and small names are as strong as this year.

On a non-Kanye/Prince side note, does anyone think Arcade Fire could be a potential headliner?

Saw a post on the 1st page of the forum saying Arcade Fire wouldn't be likely for OA as they weren't touring Europe in July? That was posted in November, but since then they've announced they're playing London on July 3rd?

I only ask as I saw them play at Earl's Court last night, and based on how amazing the show was (they really pushed the boat out - the Reflektor tour is incredible), it wouldn't surprise me if they were closing on the final night. I've seen them play a couple of times and feel like they'd be a very fitting head liner.

What does everyone else think? mattpt - are they popular in Portugal?

Would love arcade fire and it would save me 55 pounds so I don't have to go to Hyde park

Wish I'd refreshed the page before I wrote my last post, haha! I agree, would love them to be announced. I saw them play last night and am already debating whether to buy a ticket for Hyde Park. The Reflektor tour is amazing and would work so well at a festival!

it's dry here, but not too much. it feels nice. but see here how's it gonna be: http://www.windguru.cz/int spot menu: portugal, lisboa - belém. never lied to me.

about Kanye, well, i know a guy who works in advertising/markting area here. he knows this kind of things a bit earlier than common people do and from him i knew other things, but to be honest never a headliner, just 'subliners' (ex: Optimus Clubbing like Jamiex and things like that). last time i talked with him he told me about Kanye and let something in the air and that's why i can't do nothing but give one more name to discussion and don't assure it..

AF are popular, more popular than Black Keys and BK are quite popular.

Arcade fire playing Lisbon rock in Rio so not sure they'd play Lisbon again that soon

exactly.

one question, and what the possibilities of Libertines (afterall they're going to Benicassim 19th - and you may have discussed it already but i don't to loose time going many pages back)?

maybe that shitty Zon/Optimus merge into NOS...

maybe contractual/"legal" reasons.

do you know BBK Bilbao? booth always have really similiar lineups if you see last years, and i'm not sure but i guess BBK is having some issues with their lineup and schedules as well (and maybe that situation has nothing to do with OA, whatever)...

but it's really really weird.. right here we're like astonished with what's happening. that may sound that i'm exaggerating but i'm not, just check OA facebook and you'll have an idea...

one of the reasons i came here at first was to check if you had some concrete opinion about all this
