Kasabian in Leicester

TBH, I think this is one of the worst lineups I've ever seen!

Got to disagree, think the supports really good and will be a good build up to Kasabian.

Having seen Jagwar Ma and really liking their album I think they'll maybe have a few more fans after Saturday.

Best thing to do is set your expectations low and you'll never be disappointed.

Brilliantly, my husband has today surprised me with tickets for this as an anniversary present - Yay!!!

...........and asked me to sort a hotel!

.........well - you know how that went!

A couple of B&B owners are saying that the police are likely to turn a blind eye to camping in Knighton Park. So -thinking of getting a pop up tent and getting it out of the car and throwing it up so we can sleep off the alcohol after the gig.

Can anyone advise me whether this is in any way a good idea?

Sorry but I'm from Leicester and you cannot camp in Knighton park. Plus nighton isn't that near to victoria park. Have you checked b&bs in mountsorrel, birstall (has an etap hotel) or Loughborough which is quiet a drive or £30 taxi. There's holiday inns and travel lodges that might have rooms in the centre of town

There are definitely not holiday Inns & Travelodges that have rooms in the centre of town! I have looked at all the obvious options both via late rooms/booking.com etc & then by telephoning most of them in person. Then I started on the B&Bs in Trip advisor - & they basically told me that not only did they have no rooms, I was wasting my time keep trying to find one. 2 of them suggested trying to camp at Knighton. Looking at the map, it seems a reasonable distance to me - a fair walk but not outrageous. I would have gone for it if I thought a good number of people were doing it.

The nearest hotel I found was £83 & that was 15 miles away so you could put another £20-£30 on top of that for taxis.

In the end, we've gone for a taxi back to Birmingham - we've been quoted £65 & I forgot we'll need another £30 to get the train there! Still - it is still the cheapest option I could find & at least we get back to our own bed.

.......& people say Glastonbury is expensive!

Funnily enough - the option of seeing Kasabian sober has never come into the equation!

How is Loughborough going to be for travelling to and from Leicester? And travelling from East Midlands airport to Loughborough?

Never done East Midlands to Loughborough but there is a bus that runs every 30 mins. The sky link bus runs from Loughborough to Leicester every 30 minutes. It also runs for 24 hours. Get on at amber rooms pub in Loughborough. It takes about 30 minutes but there are major road works in Loughborough. In Leicester it goes to st Margrets bus station, which is about 20 minutes walk to victoria park. Your best to ask for directions but follow signs for the train station then just walk straight up.

What times everyone getting there? I'm thinking 6ish

Being from Leicester I'm very excited to see the city have such a big event especially in its town centre

Thank you for the thought, but I didn't see this till this evening! It's been a crazy day at work even by our standards. Someone will have lucked out there!

I think we're OK with our decision now - there's a deposit down n the taxi, & I've booked our train tickets to get there. Starting to get excited now!

Dosent look that big of an area infront of the trees which is good. Is it 35,000 or 50,000 capacity?cause im hearing two things

I used to go there for One Big Weekend - it definitely holds a lot of people.

Just checking ... there will be beer on the "festivalground" will there?

I heard someone telling alchohol is prohibitef in the US during concerts and especially festivals. So lets hope this terrible habit stays that side of the ocean.

What an odd thing to say. Firstly that isn't true about US festivals and secondly why would it suddenly affected this concert?

All I can add to this is that these were the best toilets ever! The queues were long, but moved at a reasonable pace because every single one was perfect! Well done to the Khasi Kings! Can we get these in at every festival?

I really enjoyed Rudimantal and has a great dance near that back of the field. It felt reasonably lively - but then I was well oiled enough not to care by that point!

Great show from Kasabian - the crowd were totally up for it and it made for a great gig.
