Zoo Music Girl
Seen loads of - in my opinion - interesting gigs at Glastonbury that people on here slag off.Thing is festivals are different as the audience is made up from a wider range of people than a gig and a lot may see that act therefore as bad, when really it might have been fine, but wasn't to their taste. Horses for courses really. I didn't like that Paul Simon set but it was probably more because I was unfamiliar with his solo material than it being a bad 'performance'. Osama Jim Laden
Forgot about U2.. I wanted to see Primal Scream, seen them loads anyway but me chum loves U2 so went with him, after 4-5 songs he said 'shall we go and have fun instead?'.. Went too see PS.. They weren't great by any stretch.. Heard afterwards they're usually brilliant, if it isn't raining!!!!! Primal Scream were banging, tried to asks bloke if they were only doing Screamadelica, he replied 'no, that's Beyoncé!' .. Now, I was wired but what the chuff was he on?????? dentalplan
Did anyone enjoy Beady Eye? Or, should I say, would anyone admit to it?

dentalplan
yep, someone on here said they thought it was good a while ago. that philippines cyclone was the result
Gnomicide
There was a Liam Gallagher look-a-like by me that was going nuts. He was loving it, necking pints in one when they started an Oasis song, thowing lager about, hugging people like it was the greatest moment ever.... I suspected he may have been a comedy character and that at any moment he'd rip of his face to reveal he was actualy Harry Enfield.
SOAD
I wasn't at Glasto for Paul Simon but seriously did nobody expect him to play loads of his solo stuff? It was a Paul Simon set after all.

SOAD
no, but people were expecting 1 or 2 S&G hits, especially when for the entire tour he'd been playing some every single gig. Glastonbury was the ONLY gig where he played none. Really strange decision on his part, especially as the atmosphere was pretty flat throughout (until he played Al at the end). russycarps
Yeah I get that I just can't imagine watching a whole set for just one or two songs when there is so much to see and do. People were evidently gonna be bored during the majority of his set if they didn't know his solo stuff. jeffie
Seeing sound of silence on the pyramid is a pretty big draw though....people just wanted that "glastonbury moment" I guess And his solo stuff is ok, but it wasnt that day. Really weak vocals and extended w*nky instrumental jams. The other problem was there were more chairs in that field than I've ever seen before, so even if you did want to leave, you couldnt as you were trapped in an ocean of tutting guardian reading throbbers A perfect storm of shitness, if you will
russycarps
Here we go, Problem with the Guardian? I think you will find Daily Mail would be more their cup of Earl Grey.
bigjontour
the three performances i have seen at glastonbury that i wish i could have the time back and go elsewhere are, Arctic Monkeys 2013 - almost cried at the thought of missing Chic half way through, made the decision as chic were at 2 other festivals i had lined up. Nick Cave 2009 - the only solace a could draw from the performance is that i managed to have a barrier spot for Blur Beady Eye 2013 - As stated many times shite show! but again had a great spot for The Hives one of my highlights of the festival this year! GlastoSimon
Have to agree, it wasn't about what Paul Simon played, he just wasn't very good that day. Vocals were a bit off and stuff, he said he was feeling under the weather at the start. The chorus of this being a prime example just after 2 minutes in, was a bit disappointed because I love 50 Ways as well. EDIT: Not necessarily the worst set, but the most disappointing for me. (i.e. really didn't live up to large expectations) Edited November 28, 2013 by GlastoSimon
Gnomicide
He did himself no favours be immediately cmplaining he had a poorly throat. The general response from where I was went along the lines of "Feck off! We've been wading through mud since Wedesday!"
Guest
i think the people who didn't like Paul Simon's set don't actually like Paul Simon on his own. Apart from the fact that he didn't do any Simon & Garfunkel tunes, I thought he was great. but I know that's not what this thread is about...
