robMUFC96
Would shout out JAWS again, but their gig in Manchester is 18+ so im trying not to think about them although i am going to TOY next year so all's good
dentalplan
Not too keen on Jaws. A bit vanilla for my tastes. Toy are excellent though and their latest album is superb. I'm sick of capitalising new band's names by the way.
SOAD
Jamie Lenman. Former frontman of Reuben. Great album came out not long ago. Nice contrast of songs from the first half to second and a nice bit of variety considering the formula he went for. Kerrang seem to really be promoting him at the moment but there aren't much plans to tour. Hopefully he will do one off things like festivals though. Here's a nice example of the two sides of the album: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGHHZdqywNA
rawaudioinput
Was going to see Jamie Lenman at The Green Door Store. Was too ill to go. Then won tickets for him at The Garage in London. Couldn't afford to get to London.
dentalplan
Spotted this list. Radar top 50 tracks. Not listened to 'em all yet but there are a few cool ones. Most of the 2014 Festival Republic stage is probably on that list.
jump
The Correspondents are fucking great live, they have played a bunch of smaller/mid-sized fests in the last few years and are gonna be be releasing their debut album soon so I can see them slotting in the FR stage. Babyquack
A friend of mine recommended Telegram to me today - she said they were great live when she saw Palma Violets in Oxford last month. They're on that radar list - I'll listen to them at some point tonight and report back.

I just spotted this song on NME's top 50 song thing so they're not exactly unknown but they've been supporting Temples and Palma VIolets so they must be fairly new. Very good song anyway: They've got one song that I can find on the internet. Definitely hoping to see them next year as that song is amazing. giantwagon
Saw Telegram alongside Royal Blood at the Barfly a couple of months back, were very good but overshadowed by Royal Blood so I'd nearly forgotten about them! Love that song they've got though.

seanthomason123
Played lock up last year, one of my highlights.
rawaudioinput
Scanning through the Alt Fest line up I found this band; proper Kyuss/Red Fang-style stoner rock Highly unlikely to ever play Reading but still really cool:
dentalplan
Scanning through the Alt Fest line up I found this band; proper Kyuss/Red Fang-style stoner rock Highly unlikely to ever play Reading but still really cool: Great stuff, thanks for that. Alt Fest is looking really quite good this year, the Saturday in particular.
rawaudioinput
I'm surprised with the stoner rock bands on the Alt Fest line up; very pleasantly surprised though
kaosmark2
I'm somewhat tempted by Altfest, trying to decide how much I want to go.
rawaudioinput
It's a festival with a very wide spectrum of quality; on one hand you have acts like Killing Joke, Gary Numan, Peter Hook & the Light, The Cult and some really good stoner bands but then on the other you have a bunch of guys/gals talking about "darkness" to a drop-D chug and a badly programmed synth Edited January 4, 2014 by rawaudioinput
Tobieski
Scanning through the Alt Fest line up I found this band; proper Kyuss/Red Fang-style stoner rock Highly unlikely to ever play Reading but still really cool: This is brilliant
giantwagon
I presume I'm super late to the party, but if you haven't checked out Saint Raymond definitely give him a listen. Very similar to TDCC, but that's a good thing for me Edited January 5, 2014 by gweb

Very similar to TDCC, but that's a good thing for me Love Saint Raymond... expect him to move up the line up at leeds this year ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Two new bands for me... First: Fickle Friends there a Brighton band with quite a pop style (kind of like Mausi) which just make me think of summer... I love them and suggest you check em out A little bird has told me they are playing some big festivals this year so watch the space! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ea2GYneVWhU Second band from me is JamJar, i see them quite often busking in York and they were on BBC Introducing this week... they have just been signed and are just producing there debut album... so check em out! there that new they dont actually have any music online... however they do have a twitter account with links to the indroducing session they did ( https://twitter.com/jamjarofficial1 ) i really liked them Edited January 6, 2014 by kemosabe
dentalplan
They're doing the new acts issue in NME this week which often has a sizeable bearing on new acts booked for R+L. Chance the Rapper heavily featured, obviously. Other names in the email I got were Courtney Barnett, The Orwells, Jungle, Circa Waves, Fat White Family, Eyedress, Wolf Alice, Radkey, Joanna Gruesome, Eagulls, Childhood, Telegram and Royal Blood. As you can see, a lot of names who we've listened to here already but get listening as you'll probably be faced with the opportunity of seeing these if you're off to R+L this year. Gucci Piggy
I normally know loads of acts on the Sound of whatever year shortlist and the NME new acts issue, but I seem to know hardly any this year. Am I losing touch with new music, or is it just not very good?

Am I losing touch with new music, or is it just not very good? Too much Muse and not enough viewing this thread. Sound of 2014 seems crap for my tastes; they've mostly gone for singers with minimalist beats again.
Tobieski
Courtney Barnett is pretty cool. Australian singer/songwriter, could see her somewhere on the FR http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6_G5PlEXdk Edited January 7, 2014 by Tobieski
