So this is a mutli-topic thread, with three questions.

1. Do you think we will know (or have a pretty firm idea) of the first headliner (or maybe even headliners) very close to the announcement, or do you think we will be in the same situation as this year guessing to the very end. Is it possible some information could come our way towards the end of the week?

2. Do you think Soni's announcement might indicate who may be playing, or do you think it will just provide more bands to rule out?

3. Providing that one headliner gets announced on tuesday, who do you think will be announced on tuesday?

My answer(s).

1. I think we'l be guessing up till the announcement. Just like this year, festivals have got much much tighter with their info.. plus I think whoever's headlining hasn't announced their tour yet, so that's why it's difficult to guess right now.

2. I think Soni will announce Metallica, Slipknot and Iron Maiden... which may prompt many people on this forum to think Black Sabbath have been booked for reading.

3. I think it's gonna be Coldplay, as a ultra curveball act that no one see's coming! Probably be received just as Eminem was this year.

1. I don't reckon we'll have many certain acts come tuesday, but I reckon we'll know a great deal of the other announcements. (UNLESS They mess up and post their PR thing online again)

2. I think they'll announce sabbath, maiden, metallica and rule quite a few others out, but will also tell us some lower acts that could appear.

3. Think: Kings of Leon, Hope: Rage Against The Machine

2. Soni will probably rule out headliners, if they don't announce Sabbath or Pearl Jam I reckon we may have one of them. It's maybe possible that QOTSA headline one of R&L/Soni and sub the other?

3. Blink-182 with the news that they'll be performing Untitled in full (sorry everyone, I can see it being so unlikely that it actually happens though). Although I'd prefer them to announce Black Sabbath, Pearl Jam or QOTSA as a headliner.

1. Yes I think we will get dropped a few hints before Tuesday, but won't be told outright who it is.

2. Yes, with Metallica apparently being announced it will rule them out of R&L, much to my dismay.

3. Blink-182 to be announced as the headliner.

No just speculation to be honest at the moment. Until we get a good rumour from a good source we wont know jack shit.

I think it will rule bands to be honest. R&L are keen exclusivity in the UK. Only really with Kasabian in 2012. You could as well say that Arctics will be there as they are at T In The Park, or A7x, LP or Aerosmith as they are at Download.

Someone that will appeal to Download and Soni fans to draw them away OR a curve ball like you said. I think it will be Black Sabbath and I wouldn't/don't know the curve ball (hence why is it a curve ball). Hoping for The Prodigy or Rage Against The Machine

Anyway I don't think rage are even around, no festivals have announced them for this "July thing"
