I still think the biggest disgrace last year was failing to get Eels in the FR tent. They were around, doing festivals at that precise time.

MBV.

MBV are a less natural choice though, and were headlining small fests, and tend to sulk about having artistic integrity and not working for the corporate machine. Eels have played V in the past when it's suited their tour dates.

Oh I've never listened to Eels; I always assumed they weren't suited to R&L at all. They were at V last year, though, so obviously R&L would have had to top their offer.
