I thought Crystal Palace Park was 15,000? Also they’ve got Weezer co-headlining or supporting (not sure what it’s being billed as, but they’re a much bigger support than Korn had).    Regardless, I do agree that Download will be looking at Deftones as a potential headliner in future years. We can probably put Limp Bizkit, NIN and The Smashing Pumpkins comfortably in that bracket now too.

All bands are in that category until they break through into the public consciousness.   Fontaines DC sold out a 40,000 event this Summer, they would have been way off that the year before. That's the point - their star is rising fast. That they have headliner stage presence doesn't hurt too.

Yeah think people are massively overestimating the effect Matty’s antics will have on people going to see them and underestimating the crowd they’ll pull. They’re a massive band who consistently over perform people in here’s expectations, and they’ll be very popular on the night. Not for me, but it’ll by no means be a small crowd and they’ll undoubtedly knock it out of the park, especially as you know this will be a huge deal for them.
