Where abouts? I canny find it.

i was told at the end of last year that the line up was shaping to be the following

Day 1

Kasabian

NGHFB

Pharrel Williams and Friends

Day 2

Calvin Harris Co head

Bruno Mars Co Head

The Prodigy

Also appearing Tom Jones, Clean Bandit, Stereophonics, Jessie J, Paloma Faith, George Ezra, Mark Ronson, Sam Smith, 1975, OCS, James, The Courtneers and UB40

This?

On reading this back, it does look like they could have lost Bruno Mars or something and just went with Calvin.

Full article for those self-respecting enough not to give money to The S*n:

THE summer festival season is already fast approaching, which means the bun fight to grab a decent headline act has started.

We can reveal that V Festival, which has sites in Stafford, Staffs, and Chelmsford, Essex, has already signed Scottish DJ CALVIN HARRIS and English indie rockers KASABIAN as its main acts.

It comes as industry insiders say festival bigwigs have struggled to pull in the big American acts of previous years.

A source said: “Calvin Harris and Kasabian can hold their own on the big stage but V bosses wanted a big American act to really get punters through the gates.

“The only festival the Yanks seem interested in right now is Glastonbury.”

V, sponsored by Virgin Media, secured BEYONCE in 2013, but she was booed for turning up 30-minutes late. JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE suffered sound problems on the main stage last year.

Maybe backing a couple of our own acts isn’t such a bad shout after all.

Worst pair of headliners in V history, if true.

Wait, did Nickelback not headline one year?

Nope

Pulp and Paul Weller (1996), Blur and The Prodigy (97), Verve and The Charlatans (98), Manics and Suede (99), Richard Ashcroft and Travis (2000), Texas and RHCP (01), Phonics and The Chems (02), Coldplay and RHCP (03), Muse and The Strokes (04), Oasis and Franz Ferdinand/Scissor Sisters co (05), Radiohead and Morrissey (06), The Killers and Foo Fighters (07), Muse and The Verve (08), The Killers and Oasis (09), Kings of Leon and Kasabian (10), Arctic Monkeys and Eminem (11), The Stone Roses and The Killers (12), Beyonce and Kings of Leon (13), The Killers and Justin Timberlake (14).

Only one that comes close is 2010 IMO

Wait, did Nickelback not headline one year?

They played main stage when they first broke over here, but didn't headline, think they were third or fourth down. Around 2002.

They aren't an awful two headliners.

They're very popular, they get loads of radio play, they fit the festival completely.

However, they're uninspired but V doesn't want out the box headliners, they want safe bookings.

I think it will sell really well, a lot of people will look at Reading and be like Metaliica are old and I don't like Greebo rock and Mumford are boring. Kasabian and Calvin I can dance my tits off.

Then they'll fill the undercard with pop. It'll do good numbers. V always does anyway.

I'm so shocked every time I see people considering normal a dj headlining a rock/pop festival. It's incredible. Djs are not musicans, not all the fuckin producers must be live performers, djing started at the parties and in the clubs... A dj was someone who put the records on at a party. This thing of djs being considered headliners or having festivals only for djs has becomed toooo big. And that's because festivals organizers only want to make money. Because a dj is (obviously) paid 10 times less than a good band or a famous solo artist, in this way they can save so much money. But a lot of stupid people pay a lot to see Calvin Harris djing, thinking they've been to a concert. Looks shocking to me. Doing great parties on the beach is ok, playing in the best clubs of the world is ok, having a stage for good djs at festivals is ok, headlining festivals is not. The worst part of this nightmare is people LOOKING at djs and FILMING them: oh god, THEY'RE ONLY SELECTING SONGS!! just dance! Assholes

So.. If those aree the two real main acts for me this year there's only one headliner, the other night they couldn't find anybody and so they asked a famous producer/dj to put some records on :) Ah, I don't hate djs, I am a dj

Agree with 99% of this except from memory there've been articles suggesting Calvin Harris asks for the same prices per show as headliners typically get, wherever he plays on a bill.

Certainly DJ's have it all too easy with the 'can't do a set in daylight because the lights won't work' card that nobody else can play, once they've had a couple of hits they can demand 'late at night or nothing' without even seeming cheeky. Werchter has worked out the best way of doing it IMO, schedule bands up until midnight like most festivals then have a DJ playing for anyone who can be bothered 'after' the headliner but not 'as' the headliner. Best of both worlds.

I would enjoy it too, but not if I'm paying the same price of a proper concert. It's like for restaurants... I'm happy to pay a lot for a dish if it's made with high quality expensive meat or fish etc. but I wouldn't pay 50 pounds for a hot dog, even if it's the best of the world :)

A friend of mine who works for sziget festival staff told me that last year they started having djs on the main stage because that was the only way they could save money to pay the bands for the other nights.. And he was talking about skrillex, deadmouse and Calvin Harris, the 3 djs they had last year
