Paramore

I know this will be the unpopular thread, but to be honest I'm still interested to see their breakthrough act and want to get some recommendations before August. (I couldn't ask in 2014 lineup thread because most people don't like them.) And for those who also want to talk about them for any subject matter, do it here.

I personally don't hate Paramore band itself. I was just bummed by the fact that they have to share a headliner spot with QOTSA (I really hoped QOTSA should have been the outright headliner! QOTSA are my second favourite band. You know the first one. :))

But since it's official and I'm going to the festival, like I said I'm still interested in their first big step-up moment also. But I can't watch them with not knowing most of their songs. So can you guys (if any) recommend me where to start with? I only know their popular singles such as Still Into You, Misery Business, and Decode.

I'd say just start with their debut; All We Know Is Falling. And then just go through their albums, so; Riot, Brand New Eyes and then their self-titled album. I think they're all worth listening to. Brand New Eyes is my personal favourite, but I know a lot of people (Yellow included, I'm certain) wouldn't single it out as their best.

If I could pick out a couple of tracks from each album, I would say:

AWKIF-

Emergency.

Pressure.

Riot-

For a Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic.

That's What You Get.

Brand New Eyes-

Careful.

Playing God.

Paramore-

Future.

Daydreaming.

Hope this helps a bit :) I'm sure Yellow will have a totally different take on it than me!

Additionally, I'm very on the fence as to whether I will watch Paramore again in August. I've seen them three times (Leeds 2010, Leeds 2012 and their arena tour last autumn) and they were awful the first, very good the second, and distinctly average the last. I'm a fan of The Courteeners and I've seen them twice and they were brilliant both times, always really energentic and sound great. I'll intend on seeing The Courteeners, but it depends what mood I'm in on the day and what my friends will be doing (all but one have said that they will be at Paramore).

Avoided them every time they've been at Reading. Only seen them once otherwise and they were ok. However since September I've been getting into them so should be fun. Plus VW and QOTSA are two of my favourite bands on the lineup so will be at main either side of their set anyway.

Do we think the setlist will heavily revolve around their self-titled album like their tour, or, because it would have been out for a year and a half, the setlist might include some older stuff? They dropped Pessimist from their setlist on their last your and I would love to see it back. I'd also love if they marked the special occasion by playing some really old stuff like EMERGENCY. It's one of my favourite Paramore songs and I have never seen it live.

I guess they could do some special adjustments on their setlist because it's their first ever festival headline set. It won't only around their self-titled, I reckon. Mostly their hit numbers and strong live numbers (don't know about that though)? Also, just heard Playing God as you recommended it, and I honestly liked it :)

Best one on that album. Now get on this.

I was just about to, actually. So thanks for the vid! :)
Frankly I'm quite amazed that they could do this kind of stuff! Because I excepted a pop-punk number as usual. Is the self-titled mostly like this? If it is, I'm actually gonna try it right now.

My ideal yet realistic setlist would be:

Grow Up

Fast In My Car

Decode

That's What You Get

For A Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic

Ain't It Fun

Pressure

Emergency

crushcrushcrush

Ignorance

The Only Exception

Monster

Brick By Boring Brick

Still Into You

Future

Part II

Misery Business

Looking at it now it probably isn't that realistic. It won't be that long and they'll play the stupid interludes
