I don't think One Big Sunday would work anymore. With the internet and social media, these events attract more interest than ever. If these dates were free, they'd attract an unsafe amount of people. I think from a health and safety point of view, they need to be ticketed with plenty of security.

more like a series of 1 day gigs

any publicity is good publicity as they say. and any radio 1 publicity is amazing publicity.

especially when you have an album out very shortly after it and are already getting played as hottest record in the words on lowes show

Really? I don't recall 'plenty' of Glastonbury headliners playing R1BW's main stage, never mind playing R1BW's second stage, never mind playing R1BW's second stage in the same year on the same album tour The only two I can think to have headlined Glastonbury and played R1BW are Jay Z and Arctic Monkeys - Hova was in 2012, when everyone knows R1 were able to quadruple the event budget because it was part of the London 2012 festival thingy, and AM were unnanounced so more than likely a late 'they'll be on if they turn up but we can't risk having to bump somebody up at the last minute if they don't' type booking, different kettle of fish.

New prediction from me for the Saturday INMWT headliner - Example.

Surprised not to see him on the Main Stage and he's doing a Q&A at the 'Radio 1 Academy' in the weeks leading up to Big Weekend.

When you consider both previous times Kasabian played they were second down on the main stage, to have suddenly relegated them to the tent is quite something. And especially with Serge's ego - I'm sure they can't wait to been seen playing a stage lower than The Vamps and 1 Direction. I bet it's no coincidence they're the only one of the three headliners announced so far who hasn't given R1 a session or interview.

At least with the 1D booking you can kind of see how they've been relegated to opening because they're elsewhere in the evening, Kasabian's relegation is just odd.

R1BW is unlike any other festival and don't need to worry about a budget. Bands want and need the airplay for publicity.

They subbed to Jay Z I think (Might have been third actually, as I know I got to see Kasabian, Jack White and then the start of Jay Z before fucking off cause of the rain )

On radio 1 weekend website there is a second stage listed for the friday no idea where they will put it though although i hope a few rap acts are put there like last year

The FAQs on the Radio 1 website says there will only be one stage on the Friday and only the Saturday and Sunday will have multiple stages.

Just a quick question to people who have been to these events before. Is there a lanyard you have to buy to get all of the stage times? Or is it all available online beforehand?

At Hackney you had to buy the lanyard.

I figured that would have been the case. I was hoping that the BBC connection might have meant you got the stage times for free.
