This is the link for the Radio 1 playlist for w/b 14th April - https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/t1.0-9/10155094_10152341631796763_8689525686982319756_n.jpg

If we're assuming that the lineup will be announced the week after, from that playlist I assume the following bands are likely

Most likely:

Catfish and the Bottlemen (on a UK Tour during May, no dates around Big Weekend)

Foxes (playing Edinburgh on 24th May)

Lily Allen (playing Aberdeen on 23rd May)

Lorde (will be in Europe around Big Weekend)

Likely:

John Newman

The Vamps

Katy B

Clean Bandit

Sam Smith

Possibilities:

Avicii / Calvin Harris (both playing Vegas on 25th but could play the Friday night dance night, can't see both playing though)

Coldplay (new album is released the week of Big Weekend)

Katy Perry (is in the UK and is free on the Sunday night)

Iggy Azalea (finishes her US tour on May 22nd)

The Kooks

You Me At Six (finish their US tour on May 22nd)

Ed Sheeran

Jake Bugg (plays a show in the US on the 23rd but could play the 25th?)

From today's Evening Times (http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/radio1s-weekend-upheaval-159910n.23978390)

Radio 1's weekend upheaval

PREPARATION for a Glasgow music festival is set to block access to essential city hotspots.

Radio 1's Big Weekend will descend on the city in May but restrictions will see both Glasgow Green and George Square barricaded ahead of the musical spectacular.

For more than a week prior to the ticket-only event, access to city centre sites will be affected to allow tents, stages and bars to be set up.

The 50,000 capacity event is expected to take around eight days to prepare.

There will be no access to George Square from 12.30 am on Monday May 19 until 8am on Monday May 26, while Glasgow Green will be blocked off from 8am on Friday May 16 until 6pm on Friday May 30.

The Clyde walkway will remain open except on concert days. 14,000 music fans will flock to the city centre for the first of the weekend's events, starting with BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend Live from George Square on Friday May 23.

The bank holiday festival will continue at Glasgow Green, where thousands will be treated to more than 30 performances by stars including Pharrell, The 1975 and Paolo Nutini.

A BBC spokeswoman said: "Radio 1's Big Weekend requires a lot of planning and manpower. This involves setting up the event's infrastructure including tents and bars, as well as a number of stages ahead of the event in order to accommodate performances across the weekend.

"The BBC is working closely with Glasgow City Council to minimise disruption to local residents and has held regular liaison meetings with residents to gain an understanding of the issues hosting an event in this location will cause."

George Square will hold about 14,000

No idea why they are doing it in 2 locations, seems daft and a waste of TV Licence fee money to pay for 2 lots of infrastructure and manpower when 1 location for the 3 days would have approx halved the costs.

Yeah, I just heard it. Strange advert. "Keep listening for the full line up".

Although knowing Radio 1, there will first be an announcement of when the announcement is. Last year, they used a whole morning of the Breakfast Show to announce it. Announced an act and then played a song by them. Took over 3hrs!
