Just tried to watch Lana live at the Itunes Festival in 2012.......................... so dull, I really cannot imagine sitting through a whole 90 minutes of her without falling asleep!

I saw this lunch time and everybody in my office saw me do a little jig. I saw Lana in 2012 at the Isle Of Wight and she completely blew me away. I was really hoping she would get booked so very pleased. It would be bad though if she clashes with Metallica.

The creation of the character Lana Del Rey is quite interesting - though quite an established thing in music these days, I guess - she is the daughter of a millionaire and he financed an album by her about eight years ago, under her real name Elizabeth Grant. It flopped, and all traces of it have since been removed from iTunes/spotify etc, and they've gone with this bizarre 60's starlet on benzos construct instead. I'm not a fan of the music - at all - but the whole marketing package is quite fascinating. Dunno how it'll go down live, I won't be watching, but some of you seem excited so good for you!

(And yeah, she's pretty far from sexy. But that's a very subjective thing)

Dunno! I imagine it's standard singer/songwriter piano and guitar bollocks, like a dull(er) Tori Amos, but I've not heard it to be honest. The story is much more interesting than the music!

she seems to have recorded quite a few failed albums prior to Born To Die, but this one leaked online a couple of years ago and it's your pretty bog standard girl with a guitar ordeal. not terrible at all, but it's easy to see how it got lost amongst the thousands of other similar things, which is why she probably had to carve herself a little niche sound of her own to get noticed
