Wasn't the best of episodes today was it?

For an episode 9, its probably the worst, maybe that means we will have an eventful season finale for once?

Yeah, it was probably needed but after last weeks exceptional episode, I think it was always going to be a bit of a let down.

This episode made me realise how much I couldn't give a crap about any of the characters at the wall, none more so than gilly. How annoying is she??

The death scene was pretty meh too. One of those two was always going to have to die.

I'm not a big fan of films with loads of 'epic' action scenes though

The giants were great. Especially the bow and arrow bit.

The release of the "sides"?? The anchor thing was great as well.

Not a big fight/action fan myself, but when considering the nature of the story of GOT such episodes have to happen and I was entertained enough. At no point was I bored which can happen easily when watching fight scenes/car chases etc etc in movies

Ill miss the ginger minge......................."you know nothing Jon Snow!"

I enjoyed it, yeah it was a bit relentless, and I wanted to see how things were moving along at kings landing, but there were a few WTF moments in it, when the giant shot that arrow at the top of the wall I was whooping, and then when they released the scythe - me and the missus were giggling with joy. Shame we didn't see the battle in the tunnel with the giant, and why didn't JS give the order to collapse the tunnel before the following night's assault?

I can't wait for the finale now.

There was plenty of action and moments that made you whoop, as T8yman says, I loved the giant's arrow shots, the crow being blasted all the way down into the courtyard below and the big beardie fella was as entertaining as ever, but I felt the same...I want to know what's going on with everyone else (except Danaeris, who seems to have become a bit dull).

As for Gilly, has anyone counted that baby's fingers and toes yet?

I enjoyed it but I will miss Ygritte - obvious one of them had to die and it was never going to be Jon but she was one of my highlights last series so sorry to see her gone!

All shot just outside Dublin apparently, right next to the place where they shot Blackwater.

Apparently the giants are actually 8 foot tall actors, shot against green screen and jiggery pokery to make them look even bigger. The tunnel scene was a half scale tunnel at one shot with the giant, and a full size tunnel with the other actors. Very effective.

I bet it took a hell of a lot of work to shoot.

I think part of the problem with it was that it wasnt as good as the lord of the rings action scenes, and it was hard not to compare the two.

Of course it's incredibly unfair to compare a TV series with a film that had a multi-million budget but I couldnt help it...

The quality of TV over the last few years is so impressive that you do find yourself comparing it to movies now and I think that in itself is a massive compliment to the guys working on certain TV shows.

With so many episodes to shoot and stories to manage its very impressive how well they make GOT look for a TV show. I think they managed it well last night but like someone already mentioned it was a shame they did not have the fight scene in the tunnel with the giant. It was obviously a trick too far that the budget could not stretch to

aye I agree with you there. The "supernatural" bits of the program are really well done, when they could easily be cringeworthy. The giants and mammoth were really good. As are the dragons.

I'm still not 100% convinced by the white walkers though...

I really enjoyed it but there were too many holes. On the killing side surely there must only be a few crows left but their seemed loads of them..

You have giants, and mammoths, yet only send a few. Let they others wait.

obvious their bows can reach the top of the wall why not use them but only let one have a shot.

They seemed to give up even though they had no idea if the group on the inside were winning

Everyone got killed with the giant. mmmmmm

and why did more of them just climb the wall further down where castle black isn't.

Have you ever seen her interviewed in "real life"? She's not northern at all and, worse, she speaks dead posh. I was gutted!

She is from mega money, her. She grew up in a castle in Scotland!

Edit - Which does make her more northern than northerners, but the money and private education makes her not talk as such............
