I enjoyed it as an ease back in. Nice moment at the end with Jon Snur.

Isn't the entire story arc only expected to be 7 series? I'm sure I read that somewhere. So we are entering the closing-ish stages and there's presumably some epic battles yet to come.

For those who rewatched series 4 beforehand, what was the significance of the coin Arya gave the ship's captain?

The coin was given to her by jaqen haqar, the faceless man at Harrenhal (s2). He was from Braavos, so the coin has some significance with the faceless men and may have scared the captain.

Wasn't it something along the lines of, 'if you ever need to find me, show this coin to any man from from Braavos and say those words (vala morgulis??) and he will bring you to me' or something

No I enjoyed it anyway, I thought it was a good build up. But yeah maybe the excitement of it being back made it seem a bit better!

I miss the hound though :(

same here, I really think he is gone for good though.

keeping brienne and losing the hound is a terrible trade off.

This episode just felt like nothing had changed really. Same old shit with dany, same old shit at the wall. Obviously things will get better but this episode was slow and boring in the main.

And I understand stannis in the books is a really likeable character. Does anyone who hasnt read the books actually like him? Are we supposed to be rooting for him? I think he's dull as hell.

As a book reader, don't think Stannis is any more likeable than on TV. He's cold, principled and has the same reputation.

Thanks all, that makes more sense!

Is no one else looking forward to Tyrion and Dany finally meeting up then?!

Yeh that will be good. This needs to happen to give her story line some oomph.

I remain deeply disappointed with her fella. He is not convincing as a great warrior, and not convincing as a heart throb either. The pretty boy dude who used to play that character was a million times better in every regard.

It was a big statement that we saw his bare bum but she remained full covered up too!

Enjoyed it lsst night, though it did feel like a seen setter.

The revamped Thronecast was a big improvement on the last series. The really anoying bloke has been relegated to reading out tweets (badly) and the anoying woman has been completely ousted. I missed the two GoT nerds they used to call up each week but the Top 5 Chat Up Lines was brilliant.

You do realise that it just picks up from where it left off. I know we have waited a year but the programme stays in the same timeframe ;)

I enjoyed it as always. Normal setting the scene for the characters, as will be next weeks.

Jon Snow - Now leader of the wildlings?

the Danny and Tyrion stories to now interlock

Still loving Cersai

I like him but not to a huge extent, not to sure if I want him to be king though. Also he killed Mance which I don't like
