Back in the day, series that were on Sky used to get picked up by one of the terrestrial channels and shown at a later date. Also, in the age of the internet, a show of this popularity means there are spoilers everywhere once it's aired, so holding off for the box set several months after the series airs is also a challenge! It's a victim of it's own success really. Why would the stars of GOT give a shit if you watch one of the first 4 episodes before they air? It's not like these are unfinished demo versions of episodes - the world is going to see them anyway in a few weeks!

And I understand stannis in the books is a really likeable character. Does anyone who hasnt read the books actually like him? Are we supposed to be rooting for him? I think he's dull as hell.

Agreed, his turning into a massive dick. I actually thought when he was first talking to Jon Snow, he might see reason and ask the freemen to fight for him and give them some land but not need to them to bend the knee but nope he decided to be a dick about it.

Is no one else looking forward to Tyrion and Dany finally meeting up then?!

Thats going be ace, but then pretty much any Tyrion scene is.

"Can I drink myself to death on the road to Meereen?” :D

Well they are in not in HD yet are they? :P (Main reason I am holding off tbh).

Thought the same as everyone else, first episode was a little slow, some seeminly pointless scenes with Littlefinger (noticed an accent change after it was mentioned here! :P) and Sansa, Brienne and Pod. Even Cersei and Jaime felt slightly crap.

Also the dead/funeral eyes still really freak me out!

Enjoyed it lsst night, though it did feel like a seen setter.

The revamped Thronecast was a big improvement on the last series. The really anoying bloke has been relegated to reading out tweets (badly) and the anoying woman has been completely ousted. I missed the two GoT nerds they used to call up each week but the Top 5 Chat Up Lines was brilliant.

I might be alone in this, but I find Sue Perkins far more insufferable than Jamie East or Rachel whateverhernameis (who, incidentally is my mates Auntie and has apparently been rather quiet since she got replaced :sarcastic: )

I literally have no idea what either of you are talking about

I have no idea what you're talking about but I'm just glad to finally find someone else who can't stand Sue Perkins.

fair dos, cheers. Hopefully he gets killed off soon. Mance was a miles better character.

Really? I'd say the opposite. Ciaran Hinds is great but once you'd spent five minutes with Mance you knew everything about him that you were ever going to.

I have to admit, I got greedy and bored while essay writing so ended up watching all four leaked episodes, and Stannis has a brilliant scene coming up in either 3 or 4 (can't quite remember which) that I thought was a brilliant insight into his character and actually left me rather moved.

Stephen Dillane would have made an excellent Sam Vimes.

Yeh you're probably right there. It was as much as the actor as anything else that I liked about mance.

Twas a grand episode. Not the best by a long shot, not the worst. I found the Dany story actually more interesting this week then the Arya story to be fair.

Arya got to Bravos.................thats about it really.

At least Dany was struggling with her decisions and was made make a major one that blew up in her face with the echos of her fathers history ringing in her ears.

It still feels like its winding up. They are visiting so many stories in one episode just to get folk back into it. I find that GOT episodes work a lot better when they focus only on one or two story lines and when something meaty is occurring in those. But flitering off back and forth from 6/7 stories in one episode will usually mean not too much will happen in each.

About the Ayra bit, I presume the reason she was accepted in the end was because she showed the courage to stand up to those robbers?

If thats the case, what the point?

"Here little girl, I/we like you. You have something about you. I/we will help you escape captivity as you saved my/our life and I will make an implication that i will be hospitable toward you in the future if you ever end up in Bravos, OK? However, if you do want my help I/we will reject you/pretend we dont know who you are; not explain ourself to you and only when you have shown skills on the street will I/We accept you into our home"..................seriously................why? Why bother?

Yeh I agree, if that was the case, what was the point? Maybe we are missing something....

We must be. I felt I was perfectly right to assume she would be automatically accepted by the faceless man in Bravos as she had already proven herself to be worthy of the friendship of the men of Bravos. Sure she had the bloody coin, so it had to have meant something to the faceless man at the door the same way it meant something to the faceless man that gave it to her and the sailor who helped her get there. Sure didnt he retrieve it from the water?

If its just glossed over and now she is ready to be assisted then it smacks of a pointless piece of writing.

The fuck was with the Brienne 'n Pod/horse chase thing. Haven't a clue what that was in aid of.

I wondered that too. She is just pointless now she's been rejected by both Starks. What's she going to do, force them to be rescued? They are both in a good place now, do she can do one

Never mind Lennon/McCartney, the wrong one DEFINITELY died out of the hound and brienne...

I am steadfastly refusing to accept that the hound is dead.

I wish that was the case, but if he does reappear it will be a bit crappy. He was in the middle of nowhere and smashed to bits, it'll be daft if he somehow pulled through. He hasn't really got a place in the current storylines either

He's gone for good I reckon
