It's possible to simultaneously appreciate the scale and scope of Glastonbury and know you won't be bored whilst *also* bemoaning the low quality of the headline acts on the main stages at a given point in time.

It's all personal taste I'm sure every stage will have a crowd and most will love what they are watching. The festival might not meet your tastes as much this year but they will be getting better for others. The high demand for tickets and increasing popularity with bbc coverage etc increasing suggests they are getting it right and improving.....

:) I feel much the same, except I chose Ash in 2010*.

Looks like it could be yet another Sunday night in the Caberet Tent, which is no bad thing.

Anti-Flag look like they could be worth checking out but I think Leftfield normally finishes earlier than the other stages.

*So sue me.

There's always excellent other options - had nothing to do one year and watched the comedy headliner and joined the head of the rush to Lv was awesome

Such happenings are just opportunities to see how much else you might be missing

Plenty all over the schedules for me -- all about strength in breadth and depth. Whether or not I;want to see Pyramid headliners never particularly bothers me one way or t'other. As lots have said, getting your kicks at Glastonbury as a whole is all about wandering around all over the place and catching quality wherever you bump into it -- the 'what's going on in that tent over there?' factor :)

And in any case I have a select but carefully chosen 'must see' list. may catch around 10% of those, what with randomness, cider, bumping into mates, all the usual unpredictables.

Well looks like the south east corner is going to be rammed by 10pm on the Sunday!

While the headliners don't rate as my must see will probably amble around the theatre and Avalon fields. Caberet tent normally has a great comedy headliner on Saturday and Avalon have some interesting acts too.

Is an arts and music festival so having a few hours to experience none music acts is no bad thing

Apart from Jake Bugg they are all acts I would go and see live any day and booking one of the biggest bands in the world with a huge show and a massive back catalogue dosen't interest you?? Dear oh dear.

Metallica are as big as they come in their genre. I do think the band wanted to do this more than the stones, who have been chased for years before agreeing, and probably it's a good thing as it won't be "just another gig"

Of course all the other 'Headliners' look weak on the Saturday ... You've got Metallica headlining ... and I can't wait.

Seriously though ... I imagine when reading this forum that so many people just camp at the main stage all weekend and do nothing else.

I love Glastonbury because I can see Metallica AND Dolly Parton ... Anti Flag, M.I.A. and Brian Jonestown Massacre ... where else on earth can you get that.

It's so diverse that it caters for absolutely everybody and if you're one of these people who can't be entertained for one evening at Glastonbury then you are the very people that are wrong with this world. The 'Entertain Me Generation' just have a walk and chat to people and find a tent and watch a band that nobody has heard of or go watch some guy make a table out of a tree in the crafts fields. While you are at it put your phones away too. You might just learn something.
