Could of been worse for Liverpool. With it being the 3rd time I could of seen an argument for a suspended life time ban as a desperate attempt to stop him doing it for a 4th time, that would of destroyed his value.. I can see Liverpool getting rid though now.

I can't, they would not get full value, best to give it till next summer and hope he doesn't eat Phillipe Senderos in the meantime!

I think its a fair punishment, to the question is it fair for Liverpool. There is little fair about football, for example Liverpool spending more money than almost every team could be considered unfair, but that's the way it is. My view is Liverpool had the opportunity to sell to Arsenal they examined the pros and cons (one being the potential for another incident) and decided to keep him. I personally think the punishment should have included a suspended fine eg 6 months if he did it again as a deterrant.

Its been a fantastic first round. The football has been great, I think the officiating has got better and there have been some good stories/controversies.surprises. I also think apart from Nigeria (I think Bosnia deserved to qualify) the 2nd round teams all deserve to be there.

Im kind of sad to see the groups end as the rate of games drops off a little. The big teams have been kept apart which should make for some cracking ties quarter final onwards, although I suspect we could see a couple of surprises in the 2nd round,

It's not the main factor but in a game of tight margins. I feel it helps build team spirit and portrays unity to the opposition. I'm not sure why the British seem to lack passion during the anthems, maybe we are just an emotionally repressed country, I also couldn't imagine our players dancing after scoring a goal like some teams do! I would love to see the welsh belt out the anthem like some of the others do.

Probably because our media and the public that follow them seem to actively try to destroy any team unity, the pressure that they are under (it appears to be no fun whatsoever playing for England) and also that for various other reasons connected to the modern game there is little connection between the players and the 'fans'/public.

And I maintain that if singing the national anthem or dancing after a goal is what is required to build team spirit or portray unity then these clowns should still be playing Sunday football where that sort of thing should be relied upon to give an advantage. While co-ordinated dance routines may look like fun on the telly and come out as a result of a harmonious atmosphere professional players shouldn't need to rely on or engineer gimmicks to build teamwork or be influenced by an opposition singing the anthem loudly. It's playground stuff. I'll wager the united singing of an anthem has no bearing whatsoever on the result of a football match and that just as many teams who don't sing have won close games than those that do.

I dont think dancing is a sign of team unity, more an example that we are a pretty introverted nation. The odd player like Sturridge could probably pull it off, but most British players would look like idiots. It would be difficult to resarch the singing of anthems as I think the British (football) nations seem to be one of the few that seem to look uncomfortable. I certainly think in most cases it fires they players up, good thing in most cases, although in certain cases can go too far.
