Friday other stage opener

It definitely will not be the Klaxons.

Seriously, they've been so forgotten there is no chance at all anyone would book them as a "special guest" in a slot they're barely big enough to occupy as a regular booking. This is not a matter of my taste btw, it's a matter of their popularity.

No, 5/1 between 4 acts, I think there's as much chance of it being someone we haven't mentioned yet as any of them. I'm no bookie but I would think "someone we haven't mentioned yet" would probably slot in at about 5/2.

I just think it's the only one that totally adds up with no reasons for it not to be. Damon's got a gig elsewhere that night, Libertines have their own gig and seem generally too unorganised for it, PSBs are down as TBC but it would be a very odd placing...

Coldplay are friends of the festival, have a new album out, are free that weekend and also it's realistically the only slot they could possibly play.

Biggest Realistic Hopes - Noel Gallagher's HFB then Damon Albarn

Biggest Realistic fear (well, Ill end up going somewhere else) - Coldplay or Jessie J

It will be someone relatively well known across the board. Thats why I cant see it being pogues.

Hmm. I disagree with this. What you're saying is that it being anyon othere than those first five acts is unlikely? Even with Damon playing in Holland that night? I don't reckon our suggestions at this stage are golden, who'd have suggested Beady Eye straight off the bat last year? I can sort of see it being a Jack White project myself with his track record.

It has to be the libertines. Surely? It just has to be. Imagine the sheer brilliance of the libertines opening the festival! If not them then The Cribs are always more than welcome to smash things up with their ingeniously crafted songs. Or roxette....

Well they've been working on new Dead Weather stuff to release and tour next year but Raconteurs looks just about canned. Mosshart being over in Ireland the night before supporting Jack, Dean being on holiday in Spain with Queens (cool that I know this) and it's a mid-summer break for Little Jack with City + Colour too so I think (with a lot of additional wishful thinking) it kind of adds up.

Yeah. I don't suppose she's being paid enough to play twice in a day though. :P
