People are taking them way too seriously. I saw them in Birmingham and it was one of the funnest gigs i've been to.

but if they were booked on the bill to begin with they wouldn't be far from the bottom of the Other to begin with, so to have them billed as a Special Guest would be rather silly

whoever this act is, them opening the Other Stage (and before Blondie, no less) obviously means they're some kind of big deal and would usually be considerably higher up the bill. it'll be an act who, imo, would at least take a Other headline / Pyramid sub position if on the lineup announced, not just some act who you could go see for a few quid at any old venue

I agree in principle that they would be bigger that Other Stage opener normally, but Beady Eye surely wouldn't have been Other headliner/Pyramid sub?

I think we're all getting this wrong. I remember at my first Glastonbury in 99 the openers were Bjorn Again to a really good reception, and then Beady Eye opened the Other Stage in 2013 to similar. What's the link? They are both great *tribute* bands doing covers of the songs of great bands.

i think Beady Eye was just a 'testing the water' kind of thing (although they subbed main / headlined the second stage at other festivals they played at - they would've just been badly received had they done the same at Glastonbury). think this Other Stage opener thing will just be used as a safer replacement for the Park secret sets

Ocean Colour Scene are allegedly a summer festival exclusive at Victorious, although I guess we've already seen that that could mean fuck all in reality.

McCauley Culkin thinks it's funny because he has no sense of humour, it's not funny. It's a bit tragic that he does this to say "hey, everybody, look how zany and kooky I am, aren't I hilarious?", but it's just forced, we shouldn't encourage him.

Apologies if i've missed it but has Kate Bush been shouted out? Long shot but may be a first stab warm up a good 6 weeks ahead of her tour?

Other than that i'm thinking/hoping...

Libertines (most likely - secret gig right up their street and that way wouldn't interfere with Hyde Park gigs)

Suede - desperately wanted them on line up so would make me happy, not sure why they would be secret though?

Pulp / Stone Roses - massively unlikely but dreaming
