Buying tickets from gumtree etc..

First time going to T this year when I've meant to go for the last few years but for one reason or another couldn't.

My question is what is everyones experiences if any from buying tickets from the likes of Gumtree? As it seems that every year people end up selling them for way below face value if they can't get them sold. Just seems pretty silly to be paying £200-220 when I can get them from £120-150 nearer the time as I'm absolutely skint.

Just wondering if tickets can be cancelled, or if fake tickets are common?

Got mine off Gumtree last year no problems for £150, haven't heard of any of my friends being sold fakes etc.

On a related note I bought 3 tickets as presents for a Gig in february that cost around £250 and they were sent upto me from London by a user

I've had many people change their mind on selling their tickets on gumtree. Best to use it after ticket dispatched so you can get the tickets really quickly

While most people on Gumtree are genuine, some people can be dicks and I've heard some horror stories over the years.

With the scanned barcode system, folk can sell you a ticket and then report it stolen/missing in the post. They get your money, plus a new ticket in the post and you get a knock back when your ticket is flagged as stolen at the gate. You don't have a leg to stand on if that happens, as the security monkeys well within their rights to refuse you entry.
