I think it's a mixture of both, it's a lot easier getting assists from Ronaldo than giroud. It certainly got him a 42m move anyway, not seen anything from his arsenal career or world cup to justify the price.

Agree with that, but he does get a silly amount of stick. Seen people saying he was awful tonight, when he wasn't at all.

Remy Cabella signed for NUFC today. Looks a good signing but need to see more of him really. Still, it's nice to have options in AM. Worrying thing is we still need strikers.

Re. Ozil, he's definitely got more stick than has been warranted, but neither has he justified a 42m fee yet. I fully expect him to be better next season though.

Replace Remy and Cabaye with Remy Cabella. Brilliant.

Interesting team sheet from the 2009 European U21 Championship final:

Germany - Neuer, Beck, Howedes, Boateng, Boenisch, Hummels, Johnson, Castro, Khedira, Ozil, Wagner.

6 of those featured last night. Slightly different to their opponents back in 2009...:

England - Loach, Cranie, Onouha, Richards, Gibbs, Muamba, Cattermole, Noble, Milner, Johnson, Walcott

How did fergie and Scotland do in that World Cup without the best Scottish player of the time?

Hansen? He never played well for Scotland and wasn't a starter anyway. Controversial to drop him from the squad but he wouldn't have started under any manager I don't think?

Very surprised how few caps he got, only 26. In my lifetime Hansen and Lawrenson were the best centre back partnership I've seen.

he was captain of the team that had just won the double.

If Scotland thought it had better players, well .... what happened happened.

Yeah its odd alright but he only had 20 odd caps in 7 years by that stage. And only played 5 times in the previous 4 years for Scotland. Wasn't a regular from them at any stage except the 82 World Cup.

My memory is going. McLeish played the opening game in 86 but that was the end of his involvement - David Narey replaced him for the next two games. Did McLeish pick up and injury or was that purely tactical?

He probably just chose a fair few Aberdeen players like Willie Miller, strachan(although at utd at the time), McCleish, Leighton etc etc.

Great response from that Arsenal fan who made that. Much better than the babies crying about how BT are a disgrace for doing what they did....

The slip reference is the gold. The Palace stuff doesn't mean nearly as much as other fans would like but....

I never knew he mentioned not slipping up!

Hopefully it'll put an end to this "we go again" cobblers. Absolute nonsense. We go again. Course we fucking go again. Everyone does. Whats the alternative? To not go again? Worst "catchphrase" in the history of football.
