first time i've properly read what was said by Eavis and who the manager he was talking to was, and yeah it definitely does sound like it's AC/DC who he's talking about. don't think i'd go and see them myself as i'm not a fan but they'd definitely be a great booking (although i didn't think they'd go for another heavy / Download-esque band just a year after Metallica)

AC/DC aren't that heavy - far more Stonesy / Zeppelin old-skool rock'n'roll than yer Metallicas.

a bit yeah, but i've always lumped them more into the metal crowd than the other two. seem to have a bigger metal fan base.

AC/DC and Fleetwood Mac would be a pretty impressive set of headliners, along with a more modern third option

i know a lot of people on here would disagree, and i'm not sure if it would ever happen, but Taylor Swift would be a fantastic sub. has she done any UK festivals at all?

I wouldn't go to one of her own gigs, but I would be there front and centre if she did Glastonbury, and love every second. I remember she played quite far down the second stage at V in 2009, I didn't get to see her, don't recall if I just arrived too late or if it was because I was there on the wrong day. That was before Love Story so nobody in England really knew who she was, and she was only a minor country radio hit in the USA after Your Song and Tim McGraw at that point. Since she's hit it big I don't think she's been back for so much as T4 On The Beach. She's a huge Stevie Nicks fan, and has made no secret of it, so if Flo isn't doing it, then we have out Fleetwood Mac sub here. Emily, we all know you read these forums, book her, you know it makes sense.

On the Florence point: unless she completely changes direction with the new album and alienates all her fans then she'll have the pull to headline. She's already subbed most major festivals and held off this year to ensure there's some demand when the album drops. Not saying she'll necessarily headline Glastonbury but if she's playing I imagine she will be.

Glastonbury definitely seems like the festival she should / would headline first, but next year, especially with Fleetwood Mac seemingly headlining, just doesn't seem quite right. if Kasabian were apparently due to sub Prince (which i still don't really believe but Neil seems adamant about) then i don't see why Flo would be any different

i guess she could also be a contender for TITP or V as well. she obviously loves Glasto but reckon a big headliner pay check would be more appealing

I was there when Florence headlined Bestival in 2012. She wasn't bad by any means but I think she lacked the cutting edge and real quality of a proper headliner. I was at the time (and still am) a big fan of Lungs and Ceremonials to a degree but I did find myself slightly dissapointed. Based on that one Bestival performance though i wouldnt say she'd be a good Pyramid headliner but then again as she has taken a significant time out she could well have improved her live performances. Would still love to see her there though (Other Stage Headliner??)

I'm not sold on the Kasabian subbing thing either but as you say, Florence could easily be scooped up to headline R+L or V so subbing Pyramid/headlining Other at Glastonbury for the hell of it (she probably could've done that this year) seems detrimental.

she subbed so i don't see why not, although yeah... more likely for TITP / V / Glasto imo

Ahh right didn't realise she subbed, have to say her popularity has completely surpassed me, if you asked me where she'd play before seeing this thread I probably would have said about 4th down pyramid hahaha

If, and it's a big If, the Roses finally get their arse in gear in the next year, I'd be surprised if it wasn't them. They'd obviously tour any new album, would be looking for exposure from the BBC (unlike the reunion gigs where they weren't pushing anything), and have unfinished business at Glastonbury.
