If, and it's a big If, the Roses finally get their arse in gear in the next year, I'd be surprised if it wasn't them. They'd obviously tour any new album, would be looking for exposure from the BBC (unlike the reunion gigs where they weren't pushing anything), and have unfinished business at Glastonbury.

Swear there were rumours early last month that they are back off (although currently unannounced)

Tinie Tempah is a rapper (and if it's sarcasm, I just think it would make the best flow)... And I enjoy Tinie Tempah. He's got enjoyable songs and gets a crowd going. I think I'd personally enjoy him more than any of the subs this year tbh.

I was more poking fun at the idea that you have to have a rapper on before a rapper. Bobbins. Seems contrived, and suggests that rap doesn't sit well with other genres. Dizzee played before the Arctics, Amy Winehouse played before Jay Z, the ruddy Wu Tang Clan played straight after Two Door Cinema Club. Obviously I'm not suggesting you go from First Aid Kit to Public Enemy, but rappers don't always have to travel in pairs.

I'd put some money on Noel Gallagher headlining the Other stage next year.

Hmm, I think he'd be more likely to sub the Pyramid if he played. Maybe something like

Muse

Two Door Cinema Club

Fleetwood Mac

Noel Gallagher

Florence + the Machine

The Vaccines

Not really any obvious subs bar Noel for me.

PEARL JAM ......youve had Metalica

FLEETWOOD i hope

DEP MODE ............playing all the favs

Can't see this happening. When was the last time there were three headliners that were this old? 2009 was close but even then Blur were coming back from a long hiatus.

If I got my way, with it still being fairly realistic, we'd have:

Friday: Muse, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

Saturday: AC/DC, Primal Scream

Sunday: Kanye West, Tinie Tempah

The Kinks in the legends slot.

Those subs are a bit wacky. BRMC would struggle to sub John Peel, Tinie would no longer be big enough and Primal Scream only did it last year and are probably pretty scarred by the experience.

Give me:

Foo Fighters subbed by Flo & Machine

Kanye West subbed by The Roots

Fleetwood Mac

...and I'll be happy, although I think The Roots are an incredibly long shot and more likely to headline Other.

They'd be massively unlikely to do either. They were about four down on the Bestival mainstage last year whereas your other subheadliner has headlined it.

I'd love for The Cure to break their mixed relationship with Glastonbury. It could happen next year if they actually bother to release a new album/do more trilogy type shows. They've had a little break from the UK festival seen now after showing everyone what they could do in 2011/12 to universal acclaim

Realistically I think:

Fleetwood Mac
Muse
Someone that will be somewhat surprising like Metallica this year.

There are quite a few artists that are only an album or two away from being close to headlining if Eavis is desperate. Florence, Two Door, Vampire Weekend, Bombay Bicycle Club or even The Vaccines. Are all of these that much smaller than Coldplay were in 2002 or Arctic Monkeys in 2007?

You're probably right, if only in terms of UK recognition. That's a great shame, though. I can't think of any other hip hop band - a proper band - who have as much longevity or credibility as The Roots. Maybe a West Holts headliner?

That'd be a good fit. Surprised it's not happened already actually.

Really? I've always thought BRMC were quite big... Tinie, I'd say would be (provided he keeps featuring on songs), and I guess you could be right about Primals, but didn't they headline Other in 2012, then sub Pyramid in 2013?

Plus, it was just what I'd like, still with it being fairly realistic.

They were but it's been a while now. Over ten years since they were around that level.

Tinie's star seems to be fading now. His arena tour bombed and I think he's already sliding back down festival lineups. If there is a hip hop sub I wouldn't be too surprised by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. It'd be unbelievably shit but people seem to like that stuff.

Fleetwood mac (didn't Neil say Arcade fire were the replacement for them this year and they would be on the Friday?)

Noel Gallagher

Radiohead (possibly a live return)

Florence

Kanye

Morrissey (hadn't thought of him good shout)

Was waiting for that!

Nah Metallica have a relatively wide range of tunes. A lot of chugging on E granted but for a metal band, they're actually quite diverse.

All AC/DCs tunes - apart from the very odd tune like Ride On or Big Balls - are basically three minutes long with three chords.

Was a big fan until I saw them live and was bored shitless after 7-8 tunes. And that was after being ecstatic for the first half hour having looked forward to the gig for months.

Fewer power-ballads in the Dacker repertoire, I'll grant you.

What they probably have in their favour is a wider selection of widely recognised numbers - whereas Metallica only really have Enter Sandman, more of AC/DC's set will be pretty familiar to the casual observer. At least, if they lay off the new material.

True. And theyd be a great booking. They have 6 or 7 tunes that would tear the place apart. Theyre great fun. Certainly guaranteed a bigger crowd than Metallica.

Looks like any shows will be without Malcolm though.
