Radiohead were absolutely bunk in their secret set at the Park a few years back. I'd go as far as saying if they were in my back garden I'd close the curtains. Fucking shite. Never headliner material these days IMO.

I think as most people seem to: the Foo Fighters/Fleetwood Mac/ Adele are most likely and seem to tick all the boxes.

Of course they bloody are. Adding IMO to the end of that statement doesn't make it any less silly.

Though I didn't think their secret set at the Park was up to much either - might have been because I was stood so far away and could barely hear them though.

In Rainbows is probably my favorite Radiohead album - the previous comment did specify "commercial" though. So I would agree to an extent.

all of radioheads albums have gone to number one. So they are all "commercial" arent they?

what part of radioheads music is "commercial"? and what is not?

what does "commercial" mean anyway?

I can't believe people are suggesting Radiohead couldn't headline anymore. I enjoyed the Park set, but that was an opportunity for them to play the King of Limbs stuff live for the first time, and you could tell. A pyramid headlining set would be a different thing altogether and I don't blame them for not playing Creep anymore. They have 50 songs which are better.

I hope they headline again before they call it a day, or Thom Yorke's voice goes

To be fair to them it's not like they havent played creep for decades anyway, they opened with it at reading didnt they?

you're right about them having 50 better songs though

Fair enough. It's pretty hard to define commercial I suppose. To me OK computer was when then appeared most mainstream. That might be due to the age I was / being a student when it was released.

They obviously have a huge following and would be a great headliner. I'm just not sure how great their appeal would be to all the youger casual festival goers.

The non commercial thing is a positive. It's far better when a band can make the music they want rather than the music that their record company wants them to make - in order for them to maximise profits.

Fair dos. I think in rainbows was just as accessible as ok computer. But I'll save any further ranting for when the annual radiohead thread makes an appearance :D

Really? Fair enough I guess. I just remember him doing small, 10,000 capacity football stadiums for years now!

Watfords ground holds at least 18k actually and soon to be 20k when they eventually finish the new stand! Pfft

I reckon FM will play Friday, I'm sure Neil said that Arcade Fire replaced them this year and that they would have played Friday.

Now I'm not too bothered about that, bu if we got....

Saturday - Radiohead

Sunday - Elton

I'd be a very happy man

Bestival's the last Holy Fire show. As soon as they drop the next album it's widely accepted they're not going below headliner for a while.

If they headline Glastonbury it wont be for a long time yet. Reading & Leeds would have them first, and the new album would have to really take off for that. It's really not long ago since I was buying tickets on the door to see them in tiny venues, they've become an indie success story with the latest album, but they're still a way off headlining the big dogs.

I wasn't agreeing they'd headline next year, just they will eventually and quite effortlessly. I don't think they're that far off now; they'd probably sub any major now and the step up on the next album will be easy as they've already a strong following. R+L will be first, yeah, but the year after (2017 or something I suppose) I imagine will be Pyramid. I wish they were still playing tiny venues though.

I've never thought Foals will end up headlining Pyramid, I recognise that R+L will most likely snap them up come next ablum or two but I just can't imagine them headlining glasto, would bloody love it if it happened though. Been a fan since TLF but somehow never managed to see them

I wish they were still playing Mathletics and Hummer! It was really weird last year watching the weird little indie band that made an album as offbeat as Antidotes headline Latitude, I just don't think I can reconcile those early memories with a band that will one day headline Glastonbury.
