I remember seeing Calvin Harris in Manchester Academy 2 around 2008ish, he was shit and Ke$ha supported, who was amazing. I was given the ticket free so it wasn't a bad night really.

Calvin Harris is no real Pyramid headliner. He maybe commercially substantial but I feel that it wouldn't work on such a stage. Other headline at best.

Saw Calvin at IoW this year and it was pretty shit to be honest; Didn't mind some of his stuff but not the biggest fan but thought he'd put on a good show. Was decent at first but after 3 songs it just got tedious. Same pace. drops all sounded similar. lights, lights and more lights. and don't get me fucking started on that 'whoop whoop' shit that the crowd does, fair does every now and then but it was every song. Fuck.

I think I need a sit down.

Calvin has produced some massive pop songs, but live he's pretty shit. His big weekend show was just him really shitily mixing all of his hits and pumping his fist. He's no Sasha.

Not picking on you in particular Drakey, but people need to have a word with themselves if they think Royal Blood are going to be that high up on the bill next time. They've got one album wonders written all over them and the stuff that they've got out now isn't that good either. P.S. Before anyone asks, I am into heavier music and am a big fan of The Black Keys and The White Stripes, so it ain't a genre thing here...

They drew one of the biggest crowds the John Peel stage has ever seen with no album out - plus packing out tents at R1BW, Download and TITP too - all just based on their growing following that'll probably take their album straight to the top and sell out all their gigs for the foreseeable future. I'm not too big a fan as it all seems too polished and formulaic for my tastes really, but it's hard to deny the impact they're having and that festivals will scramble to get them on their bills playing prominent slots. I don't think it'll be quite as dramatic as Arctic Monkeys' rise to stardom but I don't think it'll be too far off.

That might be a factor that there are hardly any decent new bands out this year. They didn't draw much at download... People will get a bit bored, but mind you, you'd have thought that was the case for the shitsandwich that is Mumford and Ponces.

Biffy have to be serious contenders now. Successful headline slots at Leeds/Reading Isle of Wight, Sonisphere, and T in the Park. New album in the works. Friday night headliners next year I reckon

Biffy Clyro headlining Glastonbury would make me feel a bit nauseous. Maybe at a push subbing one day of the Pyramid or headlining the Other, but headlining Glastonbury? With their current material and live shows? Not a chance. Well I'm hoping there isn't a chance.

Although this would be pleasant Glasto normally have a British headliner don't they? Unless you're counting AC/DC as British? + a band who are coming in to or are seen to be at their peak of their powers?
