I thought they were middle of the day until checking again and they were third down on Other. They'll likely be Pyramid sub/third or nothing at all then. Returning to Other would be a bit pointless and they'll be too big for anywhere else.

I'd be surprised to be honest, headlining JP is probably the next step from this point - either that or day time Pyramid.

You're probably understating the Other Stage there. The slot they played last time is probably equivalent to JP headliner, as I said before. I don't think Paolo Nutini or Pixies or Ellie Goulding would've been at home amongst the JP headliners this year.

Kaiser Chiefs and London Grammar are bigger than Interpol surely ?? Not the Manics though I grant you

Exactly, and I don't really see an act that has progressed - or will progress - that much from that status. So evening Other to headlining JP works pretty well. Kaiser Chiefs did exactly the same and in that time their lead singer was on that sodding awful BBC1 show every Saturday night. I can't see them anywhere near subbing the Pyramid, I'll take it all back if they are. Either headlining JP, a similar slot on Other or afternoon Pyramid is my guess.

Not really sure I get your other statement about acts not being 'at home' on JP stage. Pixies obviously weren't, but Alt-J and Ellie Goulding fit because they work with the Radio 1 crowd.

anyone think Deep Purple could headline or are they too far past the original band

Don't think so!

Oh right. I didn't realise you meant that they wouldn't be moving up the ranks. I'm fairly confident they will personally but I guess we'll wait and see.

I'm not that convinced that they'll have enough 'hits' from the new album if comments, lead single etc. are to go by to move up that much from before, but then again I didn't think Jake Bugg would be anywhere near headlining Other this year - as you say we'll see :)

I think Alt-J will definitely be on the pyramid if they play. They said they were pencilled in for the pyramid in 2013 but thought it would be safer to play the other. With a new album and a larger fanbase I think we could definitely see them pushing to sub. I know they are not popular here and they were dire last year (so much I left halfway through) but I'm a big fan of them on record.

William's Green was the place to see Alt-J last year ;). I thought they were damn likely for Other headliner until I took the point about that not being how acts progress at Glasto - I looked back and the only act that's gone from a lower Other slot to headlining the same stage recently is Bloc Party. And that was with a 4 year gap, not 2, and they did Pyramid in between.

So with that in mind I definitely think 3rd down on Pyramid next year :).

And then headlining it on the next album :ninja:

Friday Pyramid: Radiohead, Noel Gallagher, Two Door Cinema Club, Lorde, George Ezra

Friday Other: The Vaccines, Bastille

Friday John Peel: Jamie T

Friday West Holts: Paloma Faith

Saturday Pyramid: Adele, The Libertines, Damon Albarn, Haim,

Saturday Other: Disclosure, Bjork

Saturday John Peel: Keane

Saturday West Holts: Moby

Sunday Pyramid: Fleetwood Mac, Morissey, Alt J, Elton John, Royal Blood

Sunday Other: Sigur Ros, the 1975

Sunday John Peel: Example

Sunday West Holts: Mary J Blige

Can't tell if that's realistic or not.

Hmm, on the whole I'd say that's fairly realistic, though I personally don't think The Libertines will play. I'd have thought Example would get a bigger slot but I'm not too sure of his size anymore, I thought he'd be subbing or at least very high up at festivals this year and that obviously didn't happen.

Sigur Ros would be a brilliant way to finish the weekend.

sunday and saturday would be the other way round as Legends go on the saturday usually.

I do think Adele would be a pretty dull headliner to be honest as I think her show is more suited to a smaller more intimate audience.

Nah the legends slot is always sunday afternoon. And I think adele's music is suited to a big stage just fine, but she's not a particularly experienced live performer so I cant imagine it being great.

Edit: just realised you probaly meant regarding headliners, but I dont think theres any particular day for the legendary headliners.

yeah I meant headliners, was just going on past two years. plus the saturday is filmed live on BBC.

most of her songs are built from acoustic and I feel a big festival headliner needs are big sound or they they can get lost on stage.

Hopefully

Friday - Daft Punk

Saturday - Fleetwood Mac

Sunday - Stone Roses

I know the rumours are the roses have split up again but i saw them in 2013 and they still had it, I'm sure they could pull it off and I couldn't think off a better way to finish the festival than belting out the chorus to "I am the resurrection"
