Oasis the closest Noel will get to a headline slot for now though, surely.

I agree about Liam's voice. They'd have to factor that in and he'd need to improve, but if he did... what a moment.

I agree that Oasis is the closest he'd get to headline 'for now'. But his solo album was one of the biggest selling albums of 2011, I think with another strong album he could be pushed up to headliner. If not for Glastonbury then at least Reading and Leeds or Isle of Wight.

With regards to Florence, there seems to be a lot of negativity surrounding her on here. I agree that she is shite live, but realistically I think there is a very good chance that she could be bumped up to headliner in the next couple of years. They have to keep pushing bands up and she is one of the biggest British artists to emerge over the past 4 or 5 years. Would much prefer them to push Biffy Clryo up though

If there's always something on elsewhere, why did you sit bored shitless while Mumford were playing?

The woman of the house likes them and by that point I wasn't gonna bother arguing. There was nowt on I was particularly bothered about, but there's always someone you wouldn't mind seeing at least.

I think Oasis are a good 3-4 years away still. Liam's voice doesn't matter so much when you're there, but if he's having a nightmare like he did in 2004 it won't go down well on TV. Liam and Noel would have to be in a good place together and Liam would need to be on one of his better days for them to pull it off if it does happen. Another 2004 performance would be horrible to see.

I think Biffy Clyro have proven they are capable of headlining festivals. I think the problem with them is the quality of their albums which isn't great, so that might stop them from being a truly great band.

They've successfully headlined every UK festival they could. Why is glasto any different?

It's fine to not like them but to say they haven't proven they are capable of headlining festivals is just wrong

They said Biffy have proven themselves as headliners.

I did say they've proven themselves. I think they are a great live band and like them, the main point I was saying is they are a much better live band than on record.

Many apologises, I was skipping through different threads and thought your reply was part of some biffy bashing!

My point still stands but as support for yours I guess :P

The lack of headliner/lineup discussion is disappointing. Or are we all waiting till T-day has been and gone before we get carried away?

forum always seems to go a bit dead right after the festival; think a lot of people are all Glastonburyed out (plus it's a long time until the actual festival rolls round again)

ticket day always brings them back (or when the rumours start up again - this time last year we had Elbow, Depeche Mode and Fleetwood Mac as possible headliners for 2014. this time we have nothing (well, Fleetwood again, but we've known that for ages) so it's hard to get too excited i guess)

Personally, I found the intensity of the headliner discussion for this year's festival exhausting, and up until two or three months beforehand it was futile. I'd imagine things will become busier from mid-September onwardes when T-day is officially confirmed. Before than, it's probably hibernation time for most people. The bleakest part of the Glasto year.

I believe it's called aestivation in the summer, actually.
