Ohh come on you don't actually think that's the reason I said it? Florence and FM are pretty similar no?

nah don't worry mate, just thought that was what was lightly being alluded.

I personally see little similarity, but I think that Glastonbury has had a trio that have been slightly similar in the past.

lemme edit when I find an example

By the way that thing about Flo releasing an album in October was never confirmed was it? Was still working on it in June anyway. Not that all that matters but just for the sake of mentioning it.

I remember seeing a tweet, even if it's delayed It'l be very soon

just realised how close october is... fuck

I'm starting to gravitate towards predicting we'l probably get something like

Muse or Foo Fighters

Fleetwood Mac

Florence + The Machine

As Neil said earlier, i've got a nagging feeling reading will throw money at foo fighters as a safe established booking, just like Arctics this year.

I think repeats at festivals are getting more common, because for two years now we've had a limited amount of touring acts.

I think (as things look) there may be some truth in the Muse rumours, just as their album release and tour plans for next year remind me alot of Arctics in 2013, haven't played the UK properly for a while, slightly ducked under the radar and there's anticipation for them to come back.

Florence has a new album in October, something tells me she's really gonna get huge with it, I think she'l headline the sunday and it'l look much stronger by the time the festival comes.

I'd say (personally) Muse, Fleetwood and Florence is a pretty strong trio, but someone will probably disagree with me.

For the first time ever, I agree with all of this. I think it'll be Flo, FM and Muse/Foos. Hopefully Muse.

I don't think they're as similar as is made out. I don't think it's enough to start a feminist debate though either.

I don't think Florence is a carbon copy of FM or anything I just couldn't see them being booked to headline in the same year, too similar for that imo

This is gonna be good.

Arctic Monkeys and The Killers in 2007 (I could say they both appeal to the same crowd)

At a push Arctic Monkeys and Mumford and Sons probably share alot of fans.

Primal Scream, Blur and Pulp are a great (but quite similar) trio in 1998.

All in all, my point is that having two female fronted headline bands in one year is not an issue.

Any prediction without Biffy Clyro is just Silly

/ hopeful

they're definitely not gonna have Biffy, Muse AND Foo Fighters (or even two of those) headlining the same bill, and what with Foos having a new album out and Muse being hinted at, Biffy are looking unlikely. maybe 2016 if at all

i'll be massively surprised if Florence headlines along with Fleetwood Mac. her next album may well make her huge, but thinking about it, her longer than usual absence between albums (doubt it's being released this year, so four years) won't have done her any favours, unless she releases a storming comeback single. i reckon she could return as a sub, much like Elbow this year

Woop back to the forums after a break! good to be back.

Onto the discussion. I think FATM would be a little out of her depth headlining the Pyramid, yes she's a formidable act in terms of sales but I get the impression that she somewhat plays a more low-key status live than lets say Beyonce who is the only female titled artist to have headlined the festival in the near past.

I reckon she's a great crowd warmer upper for a headliner, so she she screams to me as a great sub headliner.

Regarding Kate Bush, she might do it. The first part of her show (from what I've read) wasn't bonkers of theatrical at all, it was a gig, of the sort that could easily be translated to the pyramid. It just depends on whether Kate wants to do something like that or not.

On the other hand, I bet there would be LOADS of wingeing if she tried to do a festival set without playing her early stuff. There can be a sickening amount of entitlement on here sometimes when an artist tries to do something actually artistic and challenging rather than just playing hits. See threads on Dexys, or even Gorillaz.

Still, if she did play that set list from last night, I would be there without a shadow of a doubt. I've dayreamt about the light show to A Sky Of Honey for years. If I'd have known she was playing side 2 of Aerial in full, I would have tried for those expensive London tickets!

I would be clinging to the barrier and sobbing like the pathetic creature I am if she played, but I can't see it

It's not just the stage show, but the photography and filming policy on top of it suggests she wants a level of control over her gigs that would be impossible at a festival like Glastonbury

I seriously hope I'm wrong though.

I reckon Glasto will try for Kate, but I think she'l say no. I feel pretty certain about that considering she isn't letting people film/take photos at her gigs. No way she'd then change her mind and play a festival that would broadcast her footage on TV.

well the rumours are going to help sell tickets.
