Gahhh! I can't believe Foals played Hummer to the selfie-taking pricks at Bestival, I've not seen them play it since before TLF. It's a good job they didn't play Mathletics, I'd be round at Yannis' house, raging out and demanding to know why he thinks these bastards deserve fan service and I don't.

If it helps, it was fucking awesome! and the crowd was less selfie taking pricks than most of the crowds were at Bestival :P Could have done with another 15 minutes or so though, its my only complaint.

That's what Outkast's recent festival shows consisted of and they were allright.

Yes but this would involve Sting...

If any band deserves headline slots, it's them. I may have lost interest in the recorded output post-Antidotes, but they haven't lot a drop of energy live. They seem to be able to inject this immediacy into every show they do, no matter where it is or who they're playing to. Never seen them play a show when the band didn't come across as though they were completely invested in the show, to a degree that I very rarely see other bands go to. That's probably a big part of the reason why their music fits anywhere, tiny clubs to massive outdoor gigs, they're this weird band that don't really sound like anybody else, and have managed to get themselves a pretty massive audience. I don't think they're currently the size of the Glastonbury headline bands we're accustomed to, but if Michael gets them topping the Pyramid next time they're on the road, he'd be making a very smart decision.

Foo Fighters hinted tonight that they're playing a week at Wembley Stadium, which I guess would make them unlikely? Although I'm not sure anyone can do a full week at Wembley Stadium...

tbh the only reason i had them pinned for Glastonbury was because i assumed they'd have a UK festival lined up, and their default Reading and Leeds was out of the question, but if they have some kind of residency going on then i guess that negates the need for festival dates

I don't think stadium dates ever really affect Glastonbury (AC/DC apparently have them in June and are strongly linked because of it) but it probably lessens their chances a little. It'd be the only English fest they could really do now though if they're gonna do one.

Edit: Actually, reading the article, it seems like he's just saying it in a comparison to the shows they've famously done over here. They could do it though.

Are they big enough to do more than one night at Wembley? I guess they must be more popular than I thought.

Well they're bigger than The Killers, who did one night, or Eminem, who did two (which admittedly didn't sell out). Not sure anyone's popular enough for a whole week though. 450k/630k tickets (depending on what they mean by a week) is one hell of a lot.

They're doing a week at Wembley? Surely not?

Depends how quickly it sells out I suppose. If it's just one show and it's announced fairly soon, I don't think it'd be detrimental to any potential Glastonbury headline slot.

I think they could do four or five or something, which rounded up could be called a 'week'. They did two last time after all and they sold out quickly in the middle of the recession that could've swallowed Glastonbury so yeah I think they could do a handful of Wembley dates next year. As Neil pointed out though I'm not sure whether the organisers would want them doing Glastonbury as I don't think they'd sell out more than one with Glastonbury as well.

Take That did eight nights!

If Foo Fighters do 'a week' (or 4/5 nights, whatever) then I think the chances of Glastonbury too are slim.

Oh, and don't get me started on Take That's last tour. Utterly ridiculous how many dates sold out. They're up there with Michael Buble (10+ nights at the 02 I think?) on the 'mum music list'.
