Wellies with decent insoles then duck tape your waterproof trousers to them. Peel off all together in your porch.

Lots and lots of socks.

Resealable freezer bags come in various sizes and are great for clothes, cameras, loo roll, etc. Also leave some clean dry clothes in the car for your drive home.

Don't wear jeans, you'll regret it.

Best way to take off muddy wellies is to sit down, both (wellied) legs into a bin liner and then pull them off (fnar fnar) with your hands on the outside of the bag. That way you don't get filthy hands and your wellies are nicely bagged up which helps stop your tent getting muddy.

at the end of a wet/muddy day, i just tend to pull my waterproof trousers down onto my wellies, and then step out of the whole lot in one go. Then when I put them back on, its step into wellies, trousers straight up, and away we go. Its like a drunken budget version of Wallace and Gromit

Spare clothes are the way forward. Can't remember the year but when it had rained I left my waterproofs in the lock up to dry, they just hung them on the shelves for me :D

Ponchos seem to work well too, my BF still has one that Orange gave out a few years ago and its kept him dry ever year. I need to test mine from Decathlon actually...

I see lots of people saying go for the walking boots/gaitors combo rather than wellies. I now have both but am not convinced, are they really better than wellies? Does anyone who has gone down the boot/gaitor combo not agree?

I don't want to carry both if I don't have to.

I don't think there will be anywhere like the rainfall needed to create a mud bath. However my tips (from years of taking kids camping in Wales) is wear shorts and a good waterproof jacket/kagoule. Wet legs are better than wet trousers.

A good water repellent hat is useful too.

If it is raining you get cold quickly so a fleece in your daypack or round your waiste is helpful.

Embrace it though, Glastonbury is the only place that is enhanced by its variable weather. People remain just as cheerful and lovely.

The Theatre & Circus fields have a number of nice large tents where you can watch fantastic acts whilst sheltering from the rain (not that I'm suggesting in any way whatsoever it's going to rain)

I've been holding off buying any serious wet weather gear as I'll never use it outside of glastonbury......but given the recent forecasts and I'm doing back to back festival weekends, I think Amazon will be getting some extra orders tonight.....just trying to decide whether to go for the cheaper 'some rain, basic waterproofs' option or prepare for a very wet time and go for a more expensive, more durable waterproof option. Hmmmmm.....

Bring bin liners, use them as make shift ground sheets so you can sit where you like.

Dont walk like a human bean 'skate' around. You'll be twice as fast as everyone site and you will never get stuck. I discovered this in 2011 when I was drunk and I literally flew from one side of the field to the other, it's called adaption folks ;) U look a bit of a tit though.

There was a whole science discussion at the infinite monkey cage one year about the best way to walk in mud without getting wellies stuck, the trick is to twist your feet as you lift. This will lead to a slightly mincing way of walking though.
