What do you regret about Glastonbury 2014?

For some strange reason I had quite a sensible head on on Wednesday after promising (in jest) not to get drunk on the Wednesday, so I didn't. As a result I didn't make the efests meet, and ended up having a very relaxed, but not memorable mad day

I also left my phone at camp on Thursday so missed a few texts to meet up with people

Plus I didn't go off on my own enough and didn't chat to enough random strangers

Other than that had a brilliant time while I was there, but after 5 Glastonburys if I am lucky for tickets in 2015 I will be back on form

I think I took too much of the outside world in through the gates with me (but some of that was due to circumstances)

What will you do differently next time ?

Not so much a regret but will definitely try see more of the SE corner next time. Been there during the day and some of the night-time but this year I had spent all of Friday night and Saturday morning there and it was one of the best experiences I've ever had at Glastonbury. Truly mind-blowing section of the festival - sober or not!

Do less of the South East corner!! Wasted about 5hrs of my life queuing up on various nights there. Especially on the David Morales tribute to Frankie Knuckles on Thursday night. WHY WHY WHY have such an epic event in such a small space!!

There was brilliant dance stuff on in the Silver Hayes area til 3am each night. I think next year I will save some of my energy and go to bed earlier on a couple of nights so....

to me next point:

Get up earlier and do some other cool stuff that I wish I'd done this year, such as:

See the English National Ballet

Michael Eavis' talks

Tribute to Tony Benn

Mooch around the Healing Fields a bit more

Don't get me wrong, I love the Shangri La and have had some amazing nights there. But this year it felt SOOOOO busy and the amount of walking/queuing to get in these places just wasn't worth it sometimes.

The one I've mentioned a few times already - not getting a better position for Arcade Fire. Had been looking forward to it for so long but the bass and not being central spoiled it for me. Gonna be regretting that for a long time...

Also - not doing more research into raincoats. The one I took was useless and I was drenched when the heavens opened straight after Lana Del Rey. It borderline ruined my day and was considering going back to the tent, until I had a moment and thought 'fuck it, I'm at Glasto' - then bought a steak sandwich and proceeded to wait in the rain for the Warpaint Greenpeace set. Well worth it.

Not seeing enough acts. I'd purposefully gunned for a "chilled out" Glasto this year and consequently only went to see about 4-5 bands. Watching Dolly last night on iPlayer I was rather gutted to have not been there.

What would I do differently... 2 things.

Get a clear and concise idea of what food stalls sell the most food for the best price and watch what people buy from these stalls before I think about getting in the queues for them. If I knew what I was getting when I queued 15 minutes to get a '16 month maple cured pulled pork burger and traditional lemonade', I'd have known that paying £9.50 for a tiny roll, handful of pork, crappy salad and unwanted jalapenos along with a not-at-all-traditional 7-Up, I'd have gone somewhere else.

Take waterproof trousers instead of wandering around in the same jeans all weekend, soaked and sore.

Didn't bring enough booze due to not having enough cash in the lead up to the festival (I got paid while I was there) and then ended up going way too hard on the drugs, had some bad really come downs (to the point I almost wanted to go home on the Saturday) and MDMA stopped working on me. Definitely less drugs next year!

I also avoided everywhere in SE corner with a queue when I think I should have just waited a bit instead of sticking to the outside stages, big regret.

As like the OP, I felt a little like I hadn't completely left the outside behind. However all was good until Friday afternoon. I was loving Jurassic 5 playing an awesome set when the guy next to me offered a toke on his spliff, which I gladly accepted.

Unfortunately it was a Jeffery. After 20 minutes, I couldn't stand and ended up crashed out at the side. My missus had also taken a couple of drags and headed back to the tent. Unfortunately that put an end to the day already. Won't be accepting tokes off strangers in future. :(

getting so w*nkered on the Saturday that i went to bed at 12 and then woke up with an awful hangover that lasted most of the Sunday

not ever going over to Arcadia or Shangri La properly (had quick wanders through but never fully immersed myself in either)

missing Pixies. not my fault as how was i to know i could've seen all of Jack White, Pixies AND Metallica, but a real bummer

spending a lot of time waiting round for people in my camp to get ready. was nice being with a bunch of people but missed a lot of stuff because of it

Not waiting longer for Parquet Courts to appear. I waited at the barrier with a few brave souls during the downpour, but there was no communication from any of the crew. When they switched out the equipment, I assumed that the organisers had cancelled PC's gig due to the weather and that they were setting up for the next act. I eventually left at around 10 to 7. Have been quite annoyed at myself since I got back and discovered they had played after all.

Going with one person and not in a group... I do like to wonder of on my own at times and explore..... Also 5 days of being with same person 24/7 lead to an argument Sunday morning around 3am.... Which involved me stomping of like a teenager

Needless to say we've made up and are "friends" again. Must drag more people along next year...

Literally there was not one thing I regretted over the whole 5 days, the first time ever! It was the most perfect festival yet for me, I say it every year but this time every second of every day was perfect, even the moments we decided we needed a bit of a chill at the tents were perfectly chosen.

I regretted watching Dolly Parton! That was the only time I went to the pyramid, and it just peed me off. Only went as the 5 goons I was with hadn't hung out all together and we all kinda planned to head there after Avalon. Should've stuck with me instincts and hung by myself. Saying that on the walk there I did get a hug from a quality dude who smelt so beautiful...so that was cool..and it was fun the 6 of us hanging out for a bit.

I also regret being so totally fucked during Tinarawen and hardly remembering it. But then again I had a bloody great day getting ruined :-)

Edit to note not really regrets as I had the most fun all weekend....

I just didn't enjoy this Glasto very much, which is gutting because I've looked forward to it for so long. I don't think the line-up was stellar, and a lot of the things I did wanted to see clashed with others. Lots of little things went wrong, and out of the 6 straight Glastos i've been to, this was easily the worst. There, i said it. Sorry for bringing the tone down lol

Hindsight is such a wonderful thing. It's easy to look back now and think 'I should have done this', but as long as at the time you were doing what you thought would make you happiest, don't worry about it too much. It's difficult to have a perfect Glastonbury.

This year I spoke to more random people, something I never really do usually. And it's what made it special for me, will definitely be doing more of the same next year. So watch out :)
