TITP young newbie

So ill be going to T for the first time this year and theres a couple of things Id like to know

1) Im 16 and going with my 1 mate, Were not little wmps who are gonna want to be in bed by 9 but wed like to come back alive, Wheres the best place to camp if we want to still party? Considering we're going on the thursday?

2) Will they be strict letting us take drink into the camp? It says on the site we'll be kicked out if youre found with drink under-age but I guess its said that in every pub ive ever been to, I was thinking about giving to the person next to us going in while we go through the gates

3) What time should i be looking to get there on thursday? Its a 6/7 hour drive from where i live so im thinking an early start

Hi mate, i'll make an attempt at answering your questions.

1) Pretty much anywhere should be fine to camp in for your first time, except maybe red (although in saying that, I camped there last year and thought it was fine). Best thing to do is to speak to some of the people you're camped beside on the Thursday and you'll get an idea of what kind of folk they are. Last year the sunset strip was brilliant on the Thursday so i'd recommend heading there if you dont find anyone to drink with beside you.

2) How old do you and your pal look? if you think you could both pass for 18 then you should be fine and its very unlikely you'll get ID'd.

3) About 2pm would be the perfect time to arrive on the Thursday

They'll not kick you out but they will take all your drink off you if you don't have legitimate ID on you, you've got a week to go so try and find some form of ID and even if one of you has ID you just take in the booze and the other just goes in. Camp white, it may be a bit of a walk but last year we had the view (yes the band) camping right next to us and they were brilliant to party with

I'm not so sure about giving your drink to a stranger as you go through the gate, as that person will no doubt be struggling carrying all their own stuff.

If I was you, I'd probably try and stuff as much of my booze into the bottom of my rucksack and pile my clothes and toiletries on top of it. Fingers crossed you'll get to just walk straight through, but there are random bag searches so if you get pulled to one side and you don't look 18, you'll most likely lose your booze.

Would say I look about 17 if I pushed it, the other persons a she and i cant really judge her. But if I take a couple crates, will they just be taken off me if im found to be under, because i can live with that, Thanks

they will just take it off u. wont stop u getting in the campsite. they usually chuck it in the bin right in front of u as well, dont think i could take that without letting at least a whimper out.

Yeah I first went aged 16 and had my bag searched. Plenty of booze in there but it was all cans/plastic. Didn't get ID'd, and got through fine. Just depends on person to person

It says if your under 16 you need to be with a 21 year old to get in.I know your 16 but if they stop you,you might be better carrying ID with you.In the essential guide it says there is going to be ages checkers in the Q,not sure if this is a lot of shite.Just letting you know.

Yeah I saw this, Im taking my passport as thats all ive got for ID and then i was thinking I would keep it in my locker until I leave, I wont need it throughout the weekened will i?

only reason u would need it is if u wanted to buy tokens in the arena for drink, other than that u shouldnt need it

Well it shows im 16 so it wouldnt be much use for that haha Try and make some friends who can help me with that

there will be plenty who would be willing to help, T is usually very friendly as long as u arent worse for wear people will helpTha

I'm 23 and look probably about 19. Last year i think i can remember getting ID'd at both the kiosk and bar so it does happen. If you end up meeting people older than you it would be best if they got both and only try yourself if your not with people of legal age.

As long as you don't panic i dont think youll be Id'd coming into the campsite, I've been searched every year and have never been Id'd coming in.

Last year I chucked in a glass bottle to the bottom of my bag for a mate who was scared, It was packed under my clothes and inside a sleeve of a massive jacket, when they found it they ID'd me and when they seen I was of age they let me fill it up into a plastic bottle that they had in the queue. Definitely won't be doing that again
