We used to go to Kendal Calling every year - the line up is fantastic, but we got fed up of the constant dickheads robbing tents, Nos 24/7 in the campsite and knife attacks on the traders at night - just didn't have a good vibe.

No.6 is dead posh! they even had a Boden stall!

Kendal Calling gets crossed off list - no matter how god the lineup it isnt worth all that rot. We would rather see bands we have never heard of somewhere friendly.

Found this in a frame on the wall of an Irish bar as I was enjoying a Guinness

Didn't know I was in t the town where he breathed his last.

John Peel should have been my dad. This is my favourite Glastonbury photo of all time

johnpeel_zps41520bb1.jpg

I had forgotten I knew that until I read it here. My dad listened to John Peel all the time and that is how I found him and his music taste (both Dad and John!!!).

In a strange twist, my dad looked remarkably lik John Peel!!

We went to Chill at the Mill in Cornwall this year - 500 capacity. It is run by a friend of ours. Really is like a private party. By the first day everyone knows everyone, or at least is on nodding terms! That is the smallest we have been to. Apart from Glastonbury , this year the largest will be Boomtown I think. Now that is like Glastonbury's naughty corner.

I feel like we are getting Glastonbury in installments!

Boomtown = SE corner

Shambala = Greenfields/ cabaret field

Standon Calling = The Other stage/Glade

Tokyo Dub = The Gully /Blues

I'm not sure about the others - they have weird shit not found at Glasto

Is Standon Calling good then - we like the look for FarmFest but also like the lineup and look of Standon Calling.

Can't decide which though Farm is cheaper and a bit closer.

Decisions decisions :-)

Morning all...... Im back and reporting for duty.

not read through the old 2014 NFRNFC thread, hope you all had a great time :) made it to the Avalon bar on the thurs but not till about 7pm, didnt see any NFRNFC T-shirts (had mine on and for some reason a FEZ!!!!) wasn`t the soberist person at the time so my vision (and memory) was/is a bit hazy.

Great start to the 2015 NFRNFC thread by the way.

anyone looking for a small fest in August have a gander at Farmer Phils Fest... real old school.

:beach::beach: :beach: :beach::beach::beach:

We was there at 7pm I think..... pretty sure we all were t-shirts and all - but it was flipping packed!!

S2H had 2 hats and one was a fez!

Farmer Phils Fest, been a few times, about 2000-3000 peeps, camp next to your car, fires permitted, good mix of music, 3 headliners this year are The Blockheads ( put on a really good set at BT this year), The Orb ( for somthing different) and Ferocious Dog (really good Punk/Folk band, seen em a few times always a great set, gets the crowd going) plus a good mix of stuff throughout the line up.

Cracking site, teriffic nightime skys if its clear. you can camp there from Tue til Tue included in the tic price, all beer £3.50 including the black stuff.

We went to Standon Calling in 2012 for the first time and we both came away saying "that was a good festival - can't think of anything wrong with it really". It has a heated swimming pool with a DJ , a dog show - yes you are allowed your dogs. Several stages and a nice compact site. The line up is always great and they seem to get bands just before they make it big. The campsite can be in amongst the party people of quiet if that's what you want.

On the down side I would say that the bars are London prices and the clientele are London types. They sell bottles of hampagne in their bars. Also there are very few "shops" if that is what you like at a festival. The whole site lacks any artistic stuff - you know - like the random decoration you see at GF.

All in all we still liked it enough to go back again and hopefully 2 years later they will have added a few bits and pieces.
