Debbie and I are currently (well over the last year) discussing future plans, having no children and owning the house you start thinking if anything happens then all our struggling and hard work is for nothing. Seriously considering selling up and moving to a cheaper area and living off the procedes together with a part time job to top the money up.

The discussions I am sure will continue for a bit longer.

Come move to Pilton - no more T-day worries! and we're not mad here.....honest!

Tempting. I saw a des res at Shepton Mallet, for a mere £850k. A café, or b&b I think, and to do up too. If I could afford that, the helicopter school run back to Rawdon wouldn't be an issue.

My mate, who's not joining us this year, lives in Briantspuddle, a beautiful village. His neighbours have a stunning stable conversion, one floor, stretching 60+ yards or so. I just need to win it off them at poker.

sorry I am now flabbergasted....des res and Shepton in the same sentence! Blimey, I seriously don't know where in Shit town that could have been because the town truely is crap! It must have been in one of the outskirt villages.

Pilton can be expansive yes but there are cheaper houses for sale. Especially if you are willing to do what we did and buy a wreck to do up.

ha ha, well it was 1 picture in a paper. I'll stick with doing this house up first though.

Evening, everybody!

Today I have mostly been recycling our old barbecue, and converting it into a snazzy campfire cooking stand, so that next time we go camping we can cook over an open fire without balancing pans precariously among the embers. It's been quite a project, but it's nearly done, just need to add a few braces to the legs. Should have space for a couple of pans, plus sausages and steaks. There's even a metal bar for hanging a kettle, or using for a spitroast! Think I've earned a drink!

I actually had to do some work today so I've been catching up on FB and everything!

Some lovely inspiring stories here. I'd happily up sticks and travel again but my husband's pretty settled now. Am training to be a reflexologist so hopefully my big risk will be when I take the plunge to do that full time. Probably a few years off yet though!

Beat me to it Dee, was wondering the same where in "shit and smell it" is it.

Roots.. I had some once, they just got in the way.

Got to Brazil today, I wasn't that keen on Asunción, little point being somewhere if it's too hot to go out. Now it's a trip to the coast via Iguassu falls in the morrow, Sao Paulo at the weekend and my final destination (on this continent) at Copacabana beach.

Then, exactly ten months since I arrived in Latin America it'll be time to head back to Europe. Holland, England, Italy and France before February comes.

Then, perhaps, I'll consider growing some roots again. But let's not be hasty. One thing at a time.

Roots are over rated.
