Oh lads, me heart is broken. My furry baby got attacked today and when at the vets I was told she was very lucky to be alive. There was a puncture wound on her neck and just missed her jugular. I can't stop crying.

She is still covered in matted blood and has so many stitches.

I feel so fucking guilty slodge for not protecting her. She could have died, couldn't believe it when the vet turned around to me and said she was lucky to be alive. I don't have children, my dogs are my babies.

Don't beat yourself up honey, focus on the positive that she will get better and still loves you just as much.

I totally understand your comment about her being your baby cos barney is ours.

You shouldn't feel guilty as you couldn't foresee it or do anything to prevent the attack. It was a nasty incident but it's gone. Leave it behind and concentrate more on getting your pet back to health.

I had a dog once which got into loads of scrapes. One time she ran over a broken glass bottle that was hidden in some undergrowth she was going through (not on my property, by the way). I nearly had a coronary when I saw the damage to her paw. To cut a long story short she got through it. You look after your pets, but there will always be circumstances out of your control with them. You shouldn't feel guilt. Feel happy that your pet has pulled through. Keep loving that pet. I have no doubt it will continue to be reciprocated by them to you.

So sorry - how is she doing today?

Don't blame yourself - shit happens

Much as I hate to add to everyone's grim week's I've just lost a friend to the big C a couple of months earlier than expected. Peaceful though which I suppose is all that any of us can hope for.

This is turning out to be quite a rubbish week. You're right though, peaceful does make it a bit easier to deal with I think xx

Afternoon, Tippy has just been outside for a widdle, she's very stiff and clingy but she seems better in herself today. My head hurts cos I drank waaaay too much gin last night.

Glad Tippy is feeling better, her going for a widdle is great news I know vets a relieved when this happens after a operation or a stressful situation.

Hope you a feeling better as well HMV hug from me and barney.

I lost a good friend 18 months ago to the big C, put some of his ashes at the stone circle last year as well. Shared a cider with him this year. He was only 46.

Peaceful is good hope you are ok ICGenie hug from me.
