Other Stage Headliners 2015

They're in America over the weekend thankfully. To be honest they're probably big enough to headline the Other stage now going by their arena tour but I can't see them being booked anytime soon.

well in my head right now i've got it as

DEADMAU5 Ben Howard The Chemical Brothers

Rudimental ?????? Jamie T

The Vaccines

for the other - can't for the life of me think of an other sub... unless it's someone getting a bigger slot than anticipated.

that order is almost definitely how it's gonna pan out imo - in fact i think it's near enough confirmed for most of it ain't it?

I'd definitely think there's an Other sub to be announced. If not I can only see Suede filling that slot from the announced acts (though I think they'd be a slot lower). I guess one of Hozier/George Ezra could be on the Other Stage rather than Pyramid, and I did have trouble fitting them both on Pyramid without placing them lower than I initially expected them to be.

yep i agree with all of this - Suede are the only act i can see as an Other sub, but i really think they're a JP headliner (and probably just a bit too small to sub Other now). likewise on the Hozier / Ezra thing. reckon one will slot under Lionel, and the other on Other. pretty interchangeable really

I've seen a lot of people linking Suede as a JP headliner, and to me that makes more sense than an other sub (imo)

also in my head I see the pyramid working like this. (expecting acts to slot between James Bay and Courtney Barnett)

Friday

Foo Fighters

Florence + The Machine

Motorhead

George Ezra

James Bay

Courtney Barnett

Saturday

Kanye West

Pharrell Williams

Mary J Blige (or in Paloma's place)

Paloma Faith (or in MJB place)

Alabama Shakes

Sunday

Special Guests

alt-J

Patti Smith

Lionel Richie

Hozier

considering he's doing a solo set at Reading i assumed he'd be doing the same at Glastonbury and so have a lower slot, but you could be right!

Most of his gigs this summer are full band so I guess it'll be the same at Glastonbury. I hope it is a solo set though as it means he won't take up a big spot.

Alabama Shakes are on Friday, probably between George Ezra and James Bay.

I've seen other people suggest Patti Smith for 3rd down as well but is she big enough for that? Sure, she's probably a big name and is popular on here but she's not even headlining Field Day. I'd have thought 5th/6th down would be more likely but I might be massively underestimating her size.

ah i wasn;'t aware of that. you may well be right then! to be fair, i've got DFA1979 + Kanye as the final acts for my Saturday (i assume) so Beck/Iggy being there also would be a killer. Frank Turner it is!

maybe suede as other sub is thought of big enough as will be up against pharrell/Kanye, so wont need too much of a draw to get people from the pyramid

you'll be surprised how big of a pull Pharrell and Kanye are. silly petition aside, they'll both pull huge crowds (although very different from the type of crowd Suede would pull i guess). still think Suede are shoe ins for JP headliners

he is playing all of his shows up to july as the full band and on the thursday before glasto so i would expect it to be a full band

i'm still championing Iggy Pop or Beck to take that Other Stage sub slot under Ben Howard. i will not let the two year 'alt-rock Other sub' tradition die!

Went to see Ben Howard on Saturday. IMO he's not headliner standard. But then again neither was Jake Bugg. Damn!

aye i thought Ben Howard was gonna sub myself (and maybe he still will) but if Jake Bugg can do it (even if he was seemingly brought in as a last minute replacement when Metallica got the bump up) then Ben Howard certainly can

Yeah I'm still in thought that Howard can still sub, there is nothing to say he can't yet.

All we know is likely are.

Deadmau5

Rudimental

Ben Howard. There isn't anything to suggest he's not the sub. Considering all JP headers are there now with less names and last year with more they weren't I don't think there is any telling.

The Chemical Brothers

Jamie T

How likely do we currently think Ben Howard is of headlining on Saturday? Do we even know thats the day he's playing? If not him, who would Saturday's headliner be? (personally I'm hoping he doesn't clash with Kanye)

He pretty much has to be Saturday as he can't do Friday and him, Chemical Brothers and Jamie T all on Sunday is a bit too strong. I'm hoping he doesn't clash with Kanye as well but not sure who else there is to headline that night. Maybe Deadmau5 with Rudimental headlining on Friday but having 3 dance based headliners would be strange. I suppose the Saturday headliner might not be announced yet but that seems unlikely.

I'd imagine Ben Howard to be more of a 2nd/3rd/possibly 4th down on the pyramid rather than an other headliner... but stranger things have happened.

he was 4th down on pyramid in 2013 though, probably after a higher billing this time

I've been thinking this one recently. It is a bit odd if one of them says they're headlining the Other Stage on Friday before we know anything, and it turns out that is the stage and day they're playing but someone else is headlining. Ben Howard is getting lower billing at the one or two festivals he's playing alongside Rudimental and I can't see them holding back a massive Other headliner at the moment either.

Rudimental, deadmau5 and Chemical Brothers headlining Other with The Vaccines, Ben Howard and Jamie T subbing - while being remarkably shit - doesn't really strike me as terribly weak.

Yeah it's something I've been thinking about since the lineup announcement but no one else seemed to agree. Personally I think Ben Howard is big enough to headline it but you're right that he's playing lower down at the same festivals as Rudimental. The only thing putting me off the idea is that all 3 are fairly dance based which is something I can't remember them doing before.

Edit: Just checked and 2004 was the last time they had 3 dance Other stage headliners, Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx and Orbital.
