Other Stage Headliners 2015

Just currently listening to Hybrid Theory!! and wondering where Linkin park could potentially fit into Glasto. At Download they really blew me away with one: the amount of tracks that I knew, and two: how awesome Hybrid Theory is as an album. Also I think Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda link really well together and made themselves very effective front men at Download (Chester Bennington especially as I originally thought he was a weak front man before seeing them).

The problem is that they really wouldn't work as a Pyramid Headliner and IMO they are a too big band to headline Other in terms of colossal album sales etc. I suppose they could have Co headline set with Jay-Z but I could never see that happening at a festival.

Are NIN likely to be touring next summer? They've been going non-stop since last July and I don't know if Trent's been working on new NIN music with the whole Gone Girl thing. I think they'll be at Glastonbury eventually but not next year.

Queens are probably too big to do anything other than headline these days, though I doubt they'll headline anytime soon. I think Two Door will sub next year.

That's the problem with The Prodigy. Don't get me wrong they're huge but I don't think that they are a credible headliner. I think a reason for their headline spot in 1997 was partly the fact they were a band who provoked a new sense of hype about their music. And now they don't have the hype that they did back then they aren't a viable headliner. The problem is that they would want to headline

I don't think Fleetwood Mac have done a lot to raise their profile but, they will Headline.

I don't think it necessarily about flogging an album to headline (Thankfully).

I think the average Joe would know more Prodigy stuff than Metallica or Arcade Fire.

People probably know more Elvis Costello than Arcade Fire and/or Metallica. Didn't stop him being third from the top in 2013 -- and the bloke has headlined a few times too.

Their festival slots in 2009 (subbing Reading as well) were booked before the massive success of Invaders Must Die was apparent. They went on to sell out MK Bowl, moved up from 2nd stage to main stage headliners at Download, etc. Chuck a new album on top of that, plus their continuing name recognition and quantity of hits, and they certainly wouldn't be the smallest Pyramid headliner of recent years.

I think the best argument against them headlining Glastonbury next year is that they'll headline Reading next year instead

On a serious note, it's a shame that Daft Punk have never followed up their Alive shows because they would be an interesting headliner, if nothing else.

Unfortunately I get the impression they'll chase the money if/when they do tour again, so I'll say Glastonbury is probably quite low on their list.

I dunno. I'd have liked Daft Punk to headline before Get Lucky but now I don't think I'd be that bothered, though I'd probably watch it back on telly and regret missing it. I'd be more bothered about Justice, who (back on topic!) would be a fantastic Other headliner if they're big enough when they return.

Yeah Justice really need to return - I think their last uk show was Reading in 2012. A new album must be on the horizons surely and with that, hopefully a Glasto appearance!
