Off to see James next week and seen them three times in last three years. They've been awesome every time but russy's right.

The best they could hope for would be an hour third down on pyramid. Or maybe a John peel headliner. Which would be fucking awesome. Never seen a headliner in there. Make it happen!

omg you mean you missed doves in 2009 OMG! OMG!

As for james selling out arenas that someone mentioned earlier, I would love to know the breakdown of the age demographic there. 99.99% of that crowd will be 35-45.

I was listening to la petite mort on the way in today. It's well ace.

Just double checked and there are still standing tickets available for next Sunday.

blimey, if you cant even sell out the standing area then that's a bad sign. Just looked, the standing isnt sold out for hardly any of the arena shows...

I agree with gonzo, whoever thought an arena tour was a good idea is incompetent.

Yeah that's what I said, who in their right mind thought arena's were the way to go. they should be playing academy sized venues - bloody hate arena gigs and its the reason I haven't got a ticket for this tour, love James, and I really like the new album, but playing the NIA in B'ham - Soulless venue. Don't get me wrong, they'll be good gigs, coz they are a great band, but it would have been much better in an academy and they would have sell out gigs.

Anyway, hope James are playing next year, love the idea of headlining JP - now that would be immense. But reckon mid way on Other is more likely.

On another note, saw Jamie T last night, shit man, it was awesome, I really think he could headline other, personally I would prefer seeing him on a smaller stage, but I really do think he is good enough for headline. New album went down really well. Proper impressed all round..

I'm quite sure maybe a couple of the members from WU LYF are in a band called Los Porcos? Maybe Evans & the drummer Joe? & maybe Tom even as well? I can't believe people have missed out the Smiths for a possibility for best Manchester band... sheer madness.

I'd love Jamie T there - had to miss his Leeds gig as we were out for my girlfriend's birthday. Definitely need to catch him next year, Glastonbury would just be perfect. High up on the Other I reckon if he plays, maybe subbing (not sure how well the new album did? Still haven't grabbed it myself actually)

New album is really good, took a few listens, but yeah, its good. Crowd loved it last night, went down really well. Brilliant gig, first time I have seen him live, missed him last time he was at Glastonbury. Be well chuffed if he is on next year.

Yeah in B'ham, never made support, knew Slaves weren't on, so didn't bother, should've looked at who was replacing, loads of people were buzzing about superfood

They're so good, saw 'em at Leeds Brudenell the other week headlining the NME tour (New Breed tour or something?). Mainly went for Honeyblood who were main support but listened to the Superfood album the day of the show and loved it, then live they absolutely blew me away. I'm really hoping they play Glastonbury. I'd lvoe them at about 3pm after the first couple of beers are taking hold in somewhere like John Peel/Williams Green/The Park.

Google Superfood Nme Album stream and check it out

Probably cos the last tour they played academies but Manchester arena. The Manchester gig was a Saturday. That sold out. Some promoter's put two and two together and got greedy I reckon.

Shame cos the atmosphere at the sold out academy was great. May be less so at a three quarters full arena.

The Manchester arena one was not a sell out. There were a few blocks at the rear which were blocked off. Still a 10-15000 ish crowd though.

It was the Castlefield gig this summer which sold out rapid though. Absolutely magnificent gig.

I stand corrected. I'm guessing the standing was sold out though. I mean who wants to sit at the back for a James gig? It's one of them where I'd rather not go at all to be honest.

Sorry mate I did not mean to correct you so to speak. I just thought you might have got a bit mixed up between the arena gig and Castlefield gig.

I hate the Arena anyway, it really is a souless place. James have been the band I have most enjoyed there over the years. In years gone by, Tim Booth would sing the encore from them seats right at the back.

It was still a fantastic crowd really. They had no album to promote at the time either. To put it into context Depeche Mode pulled a similar sized crowd at the Arena. Also the same night I went to watch the Mode, The Mondays were playing The Ritz and Beady Eye were playing the Accademy. James are still able to pull a crowd 5 times as big as the pair of them put together. Considering the Mondays and Liam are considered Manc musical royalty then the lever of support for James is astounding up here.

No need to apologise. I wasn't being funny when I said that. I just remember my brother in law trying to get tickets for the arena and said he couldn't get them. Must have been standing he meant.

The Arena is terrible (as all are) but I've seen some good gigs there.

Really wish next week was at Academy instead of arena (or even better, one of the unis, but that'd never happen) but Leeds arena is best of a bad bunch I suppose.

I am going Birmingham on Saturday. I am hopeful though for Glastonbury although it will be 2 years since thwir last V appearance, so by V standards they are due back there.

I missed them too. I was into Doves at the time, but I freaked out trying to get there via the Dance Village and thought there was a life threatening crush, so ran off. I may not have been in a stable state of mind at the time.
