Here he is! The Manchester guy piping up, making really biased comments all over the show.

I personally think the South has had the better music: off the top of my head - Pink Floyd, Radiohead, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, The Clash, The Who

The North: The Beatles, The Smiths, The Stone Roses, Oasis, Joy Division, Arctic Monkeys

I'd go with the South.

Considering my fave band is from Basildon and most of the stuff I own is from either Italy, Detroit, Chicago or breakbeat piano stuff from down south then I can be objective.

I agree. I'm from just north of Manchester. There is a massive demographic who just listen to Manchester bands and nothing much else... Maybe Kasabian and when they are really pushing the boat out - The Jam.

I do like Oasis, the Smiths and The stone roses, but I can't stand the Courteeners (my most local band). Not 19 forever is appalling and seems to be some sort of anthem for the 5th Ave / 42's crowd.

- Lisa Stansfield went to my school, thats as famous as it gets for us

I'm the 5th ave/42s crowd however that's mainly because my friends are into rock/indie and there isn't really any where else to go, we all know when You're Not 19 Forever comes on it's time to go the toilet or get a drink, utter gash. The Stone Roses are always good for a night out though, or Blue Monday.

I much prefer Sankeys myself

To say this started with someone saying "why do you care that a band's from your hometown", it's really sprialled into everyone proving that they do care when a band's from their hometown.

It's not a case of having to like them though. I liked them when they started out, you see em down the local etc. it just makes you that bit happier when you see em do well.
