Other Stage Headliners 2015

If we narrowed it down to where I'm from (The South) that'd only really take out The Joy Formidable who I think are from Bangor.

No they're from Mold, Sasha is from bangor though I'm sure you're juet getting mixed up.

I've got the most over rated band in history from my home city, I do have Apollo 440 though so it makes up for it :P

Bet you regret that now, keeping Mr Watkins out of somewhere where there are no minors.

Actually, we barred them because they kept coming in with groups of underage fans, and suggesting they should be allowed to stay because they were 'with the band'! I thought they were assholes, but had no idea how bad it would turn out to be (in his case at least). Wish I could turn the clock back 15 years and have seen it with more insight, but I can't.

Is it just me, but i'm struggling to think of three very likely other headlines for next year?

Guess it's because it's far to early to know completely who is touring, maybe because someone we don't expect is getting a bump up?

There's always been an other headliner that's surprised me as well. Wasn't expecting Portishead in 2013 (didn't know they were even rumoured), and of course Jake Bugg in 2014 but that's for different reasons :P

Festivals are only just announcing headliners. The Other Stage headliners might not even be booked yet so yeah it's way too early to have three 'very likely' ones.

To be fair we already have Alt-J and Calvin Harris seeming likely. Pretty good going so far (in terms of finding out early, not in terms of the acts being good).

Don't think I'd go as far saying either of them are likely or we've found them out early. TBC (or maybe SR depending on what we hear from Neil) would be considered 'likely'.

Lots of people were predicting Portishead to play in a lower slot. I think the last time they played before 2013 they played a much smaller stage.

Must of completely passed me by, because on lineup day I remember being very surprised at them being announced.

yeah i don't really remember Portishead being in many people's predictions. they were definitely a big surprise as they were pretty inactive at the time. don't think i'll ever get over missing them. such a fool

Fools are we. Even when it became clear that the Arctics were a little bit meh and there was still time to leave and get to Portishead, I did not. Why?

Looking back at the clashfinder; Portishead started 15 minutes after Arctic Monkeys so you'd have had to have left just as it started or before probably. The thing that I kick myself over the most is that I didn't realise seeing Portishead was so fucking rare that they have done about as many UK shows in their career as Arctic Monkeys do in the UK on one album tour. Roll on the new album!

Wouldn't have got the whole set, but I would have got a decent 45 mins+, I'm in the same boat as you in the sense that I didn't know they were so rare. I'd had a conversation with somebody shortly before the festival who told me about the hundreds of times he'd seen them, I went with the reasoning that I'd watch Portishead at their own show, but would only watch Arctics at Glastonbury. Stupidstupidstupid.

Id never even heard of Portishead and was dragged along and they blew me away... cant watch replays without tearing up.

Just rubbing it in :bye:

Missing Aphex Twin this year will haunt me forever though

I missed Aphex Twin by getting so drunk at the Dermot O'Leary DJ set and spending the night sitting in puddles and dragging my friends into them with me. Remember none of it but apparently that was the case. Regained memory/life at 5:30, sat on a bench.
