Other Stage Headliners 2015

I missed Aphex Twin by getting so drunk at the Dermot O'Leary DJ set and spending the night sitting in puddles and dragging my friends into

them with me. Remember none of it but apparently that was the case. Regained memory/life at 5:30, sat on a bench.

Dermot was funny, shit but funny.

That set ruined my life. Asked for Common People and he said he'd play it, and never did, and then I just ended up arguing with him, and mid-argument my friend ran into the tent, jumped up to Dermot, grabbed his arm and started swinging from him. Weird.

When he dropped Supermassive Black Hole I was loving it, though. Great fun.

Hahaha, it was ace. Felt like a school disco.

Should've gone to Rock en Seine this year really.

Could've seen Arctics, Portishead and QOTSA with Blondie, St Vincent and Warpaint thrown in for good measure.

All in the middle Paris rather than the middle of sodding Reading, too.

I tweeted Tim on Friday, he said they never get asked to play Glasto.

Isn't he a born again Christian nowadays?

Maybe Eavis should give them another chance to prove their worth.

Headlining somewhere or subbing the Pyramid would be the only option for me though. You need at least an hour to fully experience their "show" otherwise it would be all over before the party started.

He's not a born again Christian. He's always had weird spiritual beleifs but is still very much anti-religion, he did a piece on Daily Politics recently (warning, it's quite heavy going -

)

They always do seem to go for the 40minute afternoon slot on the main stage at festivals though, rather than the longer set on a smaller stage, I think for profile reasons. They're just coming off an arena tour backed by SJM, though of course Glastonbury could be different.

The National's lead singer does come across as a herbert but they do it for me..

As for James, well they're just one of the best bands of the last 30yrs ain't they.. There has to be some substance in the 'football' story, everyone bangs on about it but didn't realise Tim had played solo since.. Maybe the Eavii genuinely don't think there's enough interest in them anymore? Drop Emily a tweet...

I'd bet it's not the Eavis' and likely whoever runs the business end of things. It may possibly change with Dick Tee and his company gone - I mean, if you go on half an hour late, it's the stage manager / production guys you're going to properly piss off. I wonder if that's the same lot as the ones who hate...

Frank Turner is awful and his fans are even more annoying than him

I like him, but I agree a lot of his fans are annoying as hell. Reading / Leeds have outright said they're planning on having him headline at some point in the next few years though, and he's been headlining smaller festivals the past few years (Beautiful Days, Blackheath) so will be intrigued if he's on the line-up this year. Can definitely see him closing Other, to be honest, but as noted, Eavis likes him but apparently some of the Guardian journos that did some of the hatchet jobs on him are in tight with the guys that book the stages... it's why I'd expect him to be more likely to headline than anything else - those are the only spots Eavis himself pay attention to.

There are many world talents from Wirral http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_from_The_Wirral

Amongst them many, many fine musicians. Like erm...... erm......

HALF MAN HALF BISCUIT!!

Not sure if Ian Asbury really counts but there's Scaffold as well!

Spoilt for choice.

I know you're across the water and all, but if I can live in Stockport and claim The Stone Roses, New Order and Elbow etc, then you can bloody well claim The Beatle s!
