Other Stage Headliners 2015

They'll likely get a Bestival (and/or Latitude unless they've surpassed that) headline appearance and some big shows and stuff under their belt. They're unlikely to return to play* Other Stage any time soon and, though I'd love to be proved wrong, I doubt they'll ever make the step up to Pyramid headliner.so they'll just be one of those acts that come back and headline the Other Stage every five or six years like Massive Attack or The Chemical Brothers.

( * I maintain they didn't headline considering they had a shorter slot than the act prior)

Didn't they have a bunch of VISA problems when trying to get over for Besti this year?

I just so happen to be friends with someone who knows the tour manager for Wu Tang and it was a hell of a lot more complex than that, the visa problems was basically just a good way of blagging it - obviously I can't really say what the problems were but it was a massive shame they didn't all turn up.

I've seen them 3 times since they played Glastonbury and every show since then has got worse - if they all turn up they are incredible live, but if you're missing either Method Man or Ghostface then the entire performance tends to be a bit flat. I would happily see them back there though as West Holts headliner as long as they all decided to turn up of course.

You say that but how many of those 100,000 would actually turn up. Past competition winners have always ended up playing first on the main stage to a grand total of 200 overly keen morning people while the rest of us nurse our hangovers back at the tent/cider bus.

The Thursday crowds are pretty crazy, yeah, but only because the bands playing are comparatively big names: Two Door Cinema Club, Franz Ferdinand, etc, etc. (sorry I can't remember the last couple of years). Put on a bunch of nobodys however awesome they may be and you'll be lucky to break 4 figures watching.

if the 1975 and metronomy had crowds backing out of the tent and down the hill this year.. although that might have been rain assisted in fairness

Metronomy - 250,000 albums sold.

The 1975 - Number 1 in the UK album charts.

What was your point?

No idea, but Calvin Harris is an out right headliner at the moment at just about every festival bar maybe Glastonbury (the second stage is more than big enough) & Coachella.

18 Months although a couple of years old now has 7/8 top ten 10 singles on it alone. Plus all the new EDM he'd mix in.

Btw only seen him live when he had long hair!

Calvin played dance West/East in 2007. I think of that day standing watching him and the ridiculous amount of money and fame he's got now. He's gone through a massive transformation from his Born in The 80s days. Isn't he a rumour for next year?

That album truly is terrible. The worst, most desperate attempt at ripping off LCD Soundsystem I've ever heard.

busy all 3 days of the weekend apparently according to someone in this thread

think he's actually playing Thursday and Sunday somewhere, plus either Friday or Saturday, so has a gap of 1 day where he could theoretically play Glastonbury.

for the amount of money he could make elsewhere, i doubt he'd bother tbh, unless he was a headliner. can't see him getting 100k+ for the Other Stage like he'd get elsewhere.

and since he has stopped doing live shows and just DJs mostly crap EDM music, he would be an atrocious Pyramid headliner.

This exactly. See them at Hammersmith Apollo a good few years back. Method Man was a no show and they cut nearly every track when it got to a Method verse. I think ODB was still with them at that point but obviously on another planet by then.

Bestival was the biggest disappointment known to man kind. Left after the first track.
