The prodigy album is out in march

Howlett really needs to pull something out of the bag this time.

Nearly 18 years since they brought out a quality record.

Shocking really, especially given the brilliance of Jilted and Fat of the Land.

Last chance saloon to regain respectability I think

Respectability? Didn't they already give up on that?

Invaders Must Die was a massive success and incidentally why they're unlikely to return to the Other Stage when they're headlining fests again now.

Well yeah I think they did give up on it, but all the talk in interviews seems to hint that they are trying to reclaim their old space.

Invaders was a commercial success but it was largely cheesy rubbish.

That's what made it a success!

You may well be right on the Other Stage thing.

They've obviously headlined the Pyramid before and might think it's the only stage for them now, but to be honest, unless this new album is as good as they are promising, they haven't done anything since 97 to warrant another go at it

Well that's not true is it. Irrespective of your opinion on the quality of their output (which I don't necessarily disagree with) they've released two number one albums, 5 top 20 singles, sold out the MK Bowl, headlined Download, IOW & other major festivals since 1997...

There have been a couple of half decent singles but could you honestly say they have produced anything that could stand alongside Poison, Voodoo People, 3 Kilos, Their Law, Breathe, Mindfields, Firestarter and Smack My Bitch Up etc?

Getting a number one album or a chart hit is no barometer of quality, and we all know that some serious dross has headlined major festivals (I'm not putting them in that bracket, not by a long way)

Don't get me wrong, I used to be obsessed with Prodigy years ago and I went to my first Glasto in 97 to see them above anything else.

Went to my first ever festival in 95 to see them as well and it was amazing.

I'd love it if this album really went back to the anger of Jilted, which is what they are promising, and if they managed that then I'd be delighted to see them back on the Pyramid or any other stage.

You seem to be confusing quality with commercial success though.

Also, add up the number of headliners that haven't released a decent (or indeed any) album of quality in the past 20 years, there have been quite a few...

I agree completely that the lack of (what I would deem) a decent album since 97 probably wouldn't stop them getting another headline slot.

It's just that I personally wouldn't see it as deserved really... but then I'm subjective and that opinion isn't important.

Commercial success isn't something I follow since so much garbage is a commercial success, but those two albums I mentioned are classics.

Critically acclaimed and rightfully so, plus they were huge commercial successes as well, especially FOTL.

The last two were instantly forgettable, success or not at the time.

The band's name alone ensured they would be a success regardless, which happens an awful lot.

I certainly don't think they'll ever be first choice to headline the Pyramid again, but I wouldn't totally disregard the prospect.

I doubt they'll end up playing Glastonbury on this tour, because they're doing IOW this year & I suspect they'll headline Download or R & L in 2016 towards the back end of the tour.

I like the prodigy, always have and even like some of the latter albums.. but i think I'd be disappointed with them as pyramid headliners unless they produce an album which is both good and mainstream popular. I'm not sure why but i don't see them ageing that well as a live act (keith especially).

That said if they'd quit in 2000 and only just reformed they'd definitely be seen as a pyramid headliner (which is pretty ilogical)
