Do you actually like the lineup?

I really like the lineup. Pretty much will be seeing music all day each day apart from some gaps on the Sunday, which I think most agree is by far the weakest of the three days. I think Saturday is my favourite - Gnarwolves, Pulled Apart By Horses, Jacob Plant, Royal Blood, Cage The Elephant, Basement, The Hives, Borgore, Die Antwoord, Pendulum DJ Set and Nero. Granted the sub headliners this year are shite in comparison to last years.

It's okay. I won't be going this year as I'm busy, but QotSA had me really tempted to get a day ticket. This time last year I would have done anything to catch them but having seen them already and feeling like they've cooled off since their last album I'll pass on the journey this year. Blink bored me in 2010 and I'm not that into Arctic Monkeys anymore. (I actually like Paramore but wouldn't pay a day ticket price plus petrol just to see the co-headline set. I think it'd look stronger if Blink were totally gone and QotSA got a 2 hour set at least, and Paramore just played in Blink's slot. :ninja: )

There are some good bands I'd love to see there though, but they're just dotted around on different days, I couldn't justify a weekend ticket. ADTR, The Hives, Royal Blood, Crossfaith, letlive. and Twin Atlantic would be good but I've seen them all (bar Royal Blood).

I can see why some people would enjoy it, I'm just not seeing enough from the headliners. Either seen them or not interested. The undercard is okay but again, not worth it. Hopefully it's a good festival and every band delivers a good show.

Somewhat predictably I suppose, I love it - two of my favourite bands headlining in Blink-182 and Paramore, plus loads of others I love playing as well. Jimmy Eat World, A Day To Remember, Tonight Alive, Papa Roach, You Me At Six, Sleeping With Sirens, Enter Shikari, Don Broco, Deaf Havana, Young Guns... also The Hives, who are one of the few bands I like that I haven't seen before. On top of that, there are plenty of smaller up-and-coming bands that I've been listening to recently who will be interesting to see - Crossfaith, Gnarwolves, The Story So Far, Of Mice & Men and so on.

My favourite day is the Sunday, I'll be at the main stage all day except for Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Definitely worth the ~£200 for me. My only complaint is that it's lacking heaviness, particularly at the top end of the bill. Last year we had System Of A Down, Nine Inch Nails, Deftones, Bring Me The Horizon, Skindred, While She Sleeps and Bury Tomorrow on the main stage, while this year doesn't have a whole lot of those sorts of bands (possibly due to Sonisphere's return, I guess). Although I get my metal fix at Download and Sonisphere, it would be nice to mix things up a bit and have a few big-name heavier acts at Reading again too.

I wouldn't pay the ticket price, but it's pretty much traditional for me to go to Reading now (this will be my 5th) and I'd miss it if I didn't go, so I'm volunteering it again.

There's very little to get excited about - so many repeats and a desperate lack of big, interesting acts. That said, I really like the Friday main stage (despite having seen them all before), getting pretty hyped about QotSA, and the NME on Saturday is glorious - I will be there all day, bar diversions for PABH and Wolf Alice (and maybe the Hives and AM). Royal Blood and Wolf Alice were both phenomenal at Glastonbury :).

The Sunday just utterly sucks ass on all stages though. I am struggling for anyone at all to see before Klaxons / Mongol Horde are on. Which is a dire situation. Hopefully, if I get shifts that make me miss music that'll be the day I miss.

I think, all told, £210 for Glasto, £80 for Field Day and doing a few volunteer shifts for Reading is a pretty accurate assessment of their relative merits. I'd probably pay about £120 for Reading's lineup this year, whereas every year beforehand I'd happily pay the full price.

It's alright, only a few acts I really want to see. Was going to get a day ticket just for Queens until I realised it was nearly £100 for a day ticket and I could see Sabbath, Soundgarden, Faith No More and Motorhead all in one day for less than £70. The price is understandable due to the festival being much bigger than BST but line-up wise this year didn't have too many acts that really caught my attention.

I'm not going but I do get tempted by Reading every year and then the lineup is crap. This year is one of the worst I've ever seen especially the sunday which is horrifically bad. They've ever put the decent large comedians on the friday and saturday so there is no good alternative on a sunday night.

There are too many acts that Reading obsess over like YM@6, A Day To Remember, Fucking Blink 182, Enter Shakari, Gerard Way

Here are the acts that I would love to see.
1. Queens of the Stone Age

2. Vampire Weekend

3. Bombay Bicycle Club

4. Royal Blood

5. Gogol Bordello

6. Bill Bailey

The rest of the time I think i'd find myself at the Festival Republic Stage as there is so much average crap on the main stages,

Compare that with Werchter:
1. White Lies
2. Placebo
3. Bombay Bicycle Club
4. Rodrigo Y Gabriela
5. Paolo Nutini
6. Haim
7. The Black Keys
8. Pixies
9. Franz Ferdinand

10. Foals
11. Interpol
12. Royal Blood

So go to Werchter, R&L has sold out again so I doubt the likes of you and I will be missed.

R&L (or any UK festival) being compared to Werchter is getting nearly as boring as R&L being compared to Glastonbury.

Werchter has been hasn't it? :P

Sadly, I can't afford either Werchter or Reading or Glastonbury this year.

I agree with your sentiment though. Sod Reading. The last time I was tempted to go was 2012 and that was only for The Cure; the rest of the lineup put me off.

Only Reading has sold out as far as I know (at least I hope that's the case).

But yeah, why is Wercher suddenly so very popular on here?

I've always liked the sound of Werchter. It always seems to have a lineup better than most of the UK festivals apart from Glastonbury.

It's the new Coachella, in that people jerk off over the quality of the bands and moan about how much better the line-up is/cheaper the tickets are than UK festivals without considering the other limitations of the festival and also the different circumstances under which the festival is booked/organised.

"If Coachella/Werchter can do it I don't see why R&L can't" has long been one of the dumbest arguments on here.

I think it's because it's pretty much the most suited festival the majority's taste on this board, and now the majority of the posters on this thread are teenagers just around turning 18, they're looking to go abroad for a festival, and so look at Werchter due to (as I say) the lineup being suited, and the fact it's cheap to get to.
