metalicbear
It could just be something simple such as the festival being co-managed so Sonisphere are doing the Maiden day and DEAG are organising the Rammstein day. Or maybe they just haven't put Sonisphere on that other poster yet, as they haven't combined the 2 posters together.
dentalplan
Are the Chilis still connected to Kili Live or whatever Kili Live is now? Could be interesting for Sonisphere that they're touring with no obvious venue in UK.

kipper64
Are they? Last arena tour in 2011 was kili promoted and the stadium shows in Knebworth and Sunderland in 2012 were both Kili live too. So recently they've only worked with Kili live bar IoW last year. Black_Crow
Who's up for Metallica next year?
kipper64
Really wouldn't surprise ne, but tbh as much as I'd prefer new headliners Metallica are a band I could happily watch most summers and the day ticket sales at soni 2014 and Reading/Leeds show a lot of people are. If they are available and alongside two more interedting / new headliners (RHCP,SOAD,GNR,) I'd be more than happy.
dentalplan
That's a more sensible suggestion.I think if Sonisphere (in its current form) is to go ahead it would need one marquee act (Pearl Jam, RHCP, or less realistically GNR, AC/DC) to be embellished by a couple on a level below like SOAD or Linkin Park or BMTH or something. Metallica would definitely be a big act and probably enough to put the festival on but it's so far beyond overkill now, not that I couldn't see it happening. Black_Crow
Who would like to see the Big 4 again?
gary1979666
I'd probably go for Metallica again - less sure if it was the Big 4, as just no so much a fan of the other three. Soni really needs to show that it can survive without Metallica though. It's only once that they haven't played, ffs - to make it 4/5 is a bit much. Granted it would fit with their touring, as they must be due a new album soon.Black Crow - have you heard something?
Black_Crow
1 repeat, 2 new.

However at this stage as the festivals not ran as many years almost as it has 4 on 3 off I dont know if it really matters anymore. If they can put on a festival and it doesnt include metallica then fantastic. But if they need a 3rd headliner and Metallica are up for it and it'll guarantee the event runs then I know I'd of anyways and I know I'd end up watching Metallica and enjoying it so I'd be a hypocrit to complain I'm hoping more for RHCP and SOAD though if it runs. dentalplan
Metallica, RHCP and SOAD would be very strong and also realistic. Think they'd be better off dispersing 'the Big Four' across the line up though as they've already done that gimmick.
kipper64
If they're all there then may aswell ake the most of it by having them together, gimmick or not imo.Id love that set of headliners, though if they have RHCP and SOAD is a metallica repeat necessary? I'd use the opportunity to bump up BMTH or something and keep it all fresh and appeal to a broader and younger crowd than DLF. Metallica would sell better though I guess repeat or not. Plus, that younger crowd probably don't have as much cash to split with as these Metallica fans who go to their festivals every year. I don't know if they'd want SOAD being the second strongest headliner either; the new album will get a fair bit of interest but they were a sub at R+L '13 after all.About 'the Big Four', they usually have most of them anyway and don't bunch them together so I'm not sure about it - they need a new Metallica gimmick like Master of Puppets in full. kipper64
I think SOAD are underestimated in popularity though, they've topped the DL forum headliner poll 2 or 3 years running.Maybe someone like NIN who have subbed before but could be bumped up to headliner and pull it off. Rarely play festivals especially harder rock ones and are always requested for DL with a very dedicated fanbase. QotSA would be another decent choice (personal bias aside obviously :P). Not sure either are touring but would be a safe band that would appeal to RHCP fans and SOAD fans so good crossover band amongst two very different headliners. Stick someone like Smashing Pumpkins or Placebo under them as a strong sub. Edited October 31, 2015 by kipper64
Gucci Piggy
RHCP, Metallica and SOAD would be very very nice. Although having seen them all and probably not having the money to go there I'd probably have to give it a miss.
mrtourette
This is embarrassing. Not sure who for most though, the festival that can't go ahead without Metallica or the industry that is in such a poor state that it allows one band to headline one of four festivals every year. Not sure who for most though, the festival that can't go ahead without Metallica or the industry that is in such a poor state that it allows one band to headline one of four festivals every year.Exactly, it becomes a bit of a joke. Well, it already had on here, as Metallica had headlined 3/4 of the Sonis. If it does go ahead, then out of the 7 years, 3 years were off, 3 were M'ica. Kipper's point about it being better to run with M'ica than cancel is a fair one, but that just buys them another year.Bands are generally quite cyclical in the festival circuit - no too different from the likes of Killers / KOL / Arctics who go round R&L, Glasto/V/IOW/T.That said, if there's a good undercard at Soni, I'll be there. Less keen on Big 4 though - spread out would be better really!
