Live Nation France have a load more dates up. None clash with Glasto and all in July.

Dublin and Germany not on there though.

I think everyone should go there and follow the info............. so those of us who know tickets go on sale at 9.30 get some.

Then again UK site shows 9am!

The statistical probabilities say that I have, but my brain and my ears say that I haven't.

I don't trust the latter, but I sense that they're terying to protect me.

I have heard lots by the Foos and would not put them in the 'heavy' bracket not nby a long way.

Yes they are a rock band but no heavier than many others who are not deemed heavy.

Foo Fighters have headlined every other mainstream festival there is. If anything it's a very safe (boring) booking for Glastonbury. Although they may be considered heavy I would say their fan base transcends that.

They're about the only traditionally 'heavy' band I can think of with that cross over in appeal.

Yep, they do have that cross-over appeal, but 'heavy' is still less liked by the mainstream despite that.

It's more about the impression that two 'heavy' bands creates. Foos and AC/DC as headliners are like Reading/Leeds headliners - and that's far less liked by 'mainstream' people than Glastonbury is, and its always the headliners that are the main topic of conversation for 'those on the outside'.

It's all opinion of course but I would say Metallica last year alone was far more of a risky / left field move than a potential DC/Foos combo.

As individual acts they are more like the acts booked to headline Reading/Leeds but I think the people being touted for the third headliner slot would distance it a long way from Reading/Leeds in terms of a lineup. The likes of Elton, Swift and probably even Florence wouldn't get a look in at headlining Reading/Leeds.

Foo Fighters aren't a "heavy" band really. lots of their songs get played on radio stations here that play mostly top 40 chart pop....

they're a mainstream rock band.

Yep, I know.

But even amongst that mainstream there'll be a huge proportion that aren't keen. Mainstream revolves around "the middle", and Foos are off to the side of the middle.

When you add in another band who are even more off to that same side, that moves Glastonbury well away from the middle that it's traditionally lived in.

Don't see it happening though

AC/DC are the biggest actual band (instruments) in the world, and Friday might be a bit beneath them, it would have to be Saturday or nothing, no way would the Stones have done Friday and AC/DC are bigger than them

AC/DC bigger than the stones? Can I have some of what you're smoking please

I don't particularly disagree with that.

My point about Foos & AC/DC is to a large part because they'd be in the year that followed Metallica.

If Metallica hadn't happened last year, then Foos & AC/DC would create less of an impression that Glasto now has heavy headliners which aren't everyone's cup of tea.

Black Ice tour 4th biggest tour in history, bigger than any the Stones have done

Back in Black 2nd biggest selling album of all time

Rock or Bust currently #1 in 45 countries

AC/DC are MASSIVE

Popularity wise they piss all over any active band of the last 30 years

U2 did Friday.

There's nothing about Glasto which has ever said that the Saturday headliner is the primary headliner above all others.

This year we had three guitar based bands headline, but one of the main talking points was dolly talked of like a headliner. Likewise this year I can easily see the likes of Swifty being booked in a sub or below spot and talked of as a headliner and detracting from the fact they have three bands as headliners.

Essentially I think we put too much emphasis on the headliners when any act high up on the Pyramid could be talked about the most. Pretty sure Ed Sheerans set was one of the highest viewed on the BBC too. So I think the Eavi look at the pyramid line up as a whole rather than just the three at the top a lot more than what we think they do.

They are two huge bookings mind, despite the genre

It'd even out nicely if Elton was the Saturday headliner in my opinion

The 'A Bigger Bang' tour was the second biggest tour of all time. The Rolling Stones have sold around the same amount of records despite DC's one huge album

I'm not denying that AC/DC are huge (who would?), but to say they're bigger than the stones is ridiculous

I think both are massive bands with massive support and sales. Both can and do sell out massive stadium tours.

The arguement as to who is biggest is more down to if you like them or not.

I can give the Stones a miss though they are quite good - just my opinion.

I love AC/DC

So for me AC/DC are the bigger band. To others it is different.
