sorry lots of questions! buying off ebay... some sort of buyer protection?

I am waiting to hear back from someone selling on gumtree (live in same town!) but always feel wary of buying something, i never bought a second hand ticket before. another option is from someone on ebay, they covered the barcode on the ticket otherwise it looks the same as others. they live not too far to collect and i wondered if I would have some sort of protection if I got to the festival and found it was fake or they had got a refund (i understand you get buyers protection for illness and they say on the listing they cant go as they are ill). what do you guys think, would I have some protection from ebay/paypal or woud they just say that tickets are not meant to be resold therefore no protection?

Buyer's protection for illness is basically only valid if you get Ebola and have a doctor's note to prove it

Probably the best thing to do is a cash-in-hand deal; it's very unlikely the tickets will be fake

Really? I thought i might be better off having paypal proof of payment to the seller and they might refund if it was fake. I am probably being too paranoid! They said they are selling for a friend, would prefer to deal directly with them tho. I just asked if I could have the confirmation they had from ticketmaster.

They said they have a receipt they could give me, they said the persons mum could bring it round to me. I prefer to goto someones address! But if I pay on paypal then I think this sould be a safer option.

I bought my ticket off ebay on Tuesdsy night & it arrived yesterday. Looks legit but you do need to be wary x

Ah they sent me the recept via text message with address on and everything (no refund protection on order). Totally paranoid I know but there are so many stories you hear, and big scams on the news,.

Ok so I goto V festival for £85 for weekend camping!!!!!!!! :0

I will be along tomorrow afternoon. I might think about camping at the farm up the road. It's £10 a night so same price as parking at V! Plus I get some peace and quiet

thanks phil and you. ticket was fine/genuine, didnt leave home til late so not in arena til 7pm! back at farm now with few camping here who like me need sleep hehe will post details if anyone interested for next year. hope everyones having a great time
